We are seeking a Safety and Training Coordinator to join our team at Tomingley Gold Operations. T
About the Role
Reporting to the HSEC Manager, your primary focus will be to coordinate the safety and training for the new open cut and lead the two Open Cut Trainers. The role will also work with the open cut leadership team to manage risks, prepare people for their tasks and keep training records current.
The key responsibilities of the role will include:
Safety Coordination
Provide safety support in the pit and discuss hazards and controls with crews and supervisors.
Help open cut leadership team with risk assessments, critical controls, management of change and safe work procedures.
Support incident reporting and investigations, and track agreed actions to close-out.
Review safety trends and share relevant information through meetings, toolbox talks and reports.
Training Coordination
Plan training with open cut leadership team before new equipment or tasks are introduced.
Coordinate inductions, task training, mobile equipment training, refreshers and competency checks for employees and contractors.
Review old open cut procedures and training material. Work with operators, supervisors and Document Control to update them for the recent pit.
Oversee training and competency records in Evotix. Track gaps and upcoming expiries, and report them to open cut leaders.
Arrange specialist training or assessment when it is outside the team’s competence.
Support training in other surface areas as agreed with the HSEC Manager.
Team leadership
Set priorities and coordinate the work of the two Open Cut Trainers.
Manage roster handovers so training and assessment standards remain consistent.
Coach the trainers,
check the quality of their work and raise any staffing or performance issues with the HSEC Manager.
About You:
At least three years’ experience in mining or a similar high risk workplace.
Experience coordinating safety and training activities.
Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, or ability to obtain.
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or ability to obtain.
Ability to lead a small team and work well with operators, supervisors and contractors.
Good writing, computer and record keeping skills.
Open cut mining and mobile equipment experience (desired)
Experience with Evotix or a similar safety and training system (desired)
Experience with incident investigations and risk assessments (desired)

Please note: Tomingley Gold Operations is a residential mine and relocation to the local area is essential for this role.
About Us:
Tomingley Gold Mine, owned and operated by Alkane Resources Ltd, is situated near the village of Tomingley, 50 km south of Dubbo in Central New South Wales. We have recently celebrated over 10 years of operation. Our current operation runs an underground mine, and a 1.2Mtpa processing plant that is responsible for producing gold bullion on-site. The mine's workforce consists of over 260 permanent employees who hold various roles in professional, technical, mining, processing and trades.
