We are seeking to establish a pool of Gardener – Handypersons, for permanent and fixed term, full time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Boyup Brook District High School (DHS) is a level 5 DHS catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 10. Students are drawn from families that are involved in farming, viticulture, and local business. The school is located on two separate sites, with students from K - 6 educated at the primary site and students from years 7-10 at the High School site 600 metres away. The school was selected as an Independent Public School in 2012.

The Role
The Gardener - Handyperson is responsible for maintaining the school grounds in a safe and tidy condition, ensuring a conducive external learning environment for students and staff. This includes overseeing the upkeep of turf areas, garden beds, shrubs, trees, and various soft landscapes. Additionally, the role involves maintaining hard landscaping features like courts and paving, marking sports areas, and conducting minor repairs in alignment with departmental policies. The Gardener - Handyperson is also tasked with keeping gardening facilities, equipment, tools, and machinery in a clean and serviceable condition, reporting faults promptly, and adhering to safe work practices.
Collaborating with the Manager of Corporate Services,
the role contributes to the development of safe work procedures and conducts risk assessments as needed. Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) legislation and the management of hazardous substances are integral aspects of the role, including the maintenance of records in accordance with safety guidelines.
The Gardener - Handyperson plays a crucial role in ensuring the school's outdoor spaces are well-maintained and conducive to a positive learning environment.
