Chief Operating Officer / Chief Financial Officer

Bicycle Network | Abbotsford | Executive appointment

- Four days per week leading strategy, operations, events, commercial, customer experience and community engagement
- Two days per week leading the CFO portfolio, including finance, Board, governance, risk and People and Culture

We are looking for the strongest combination of experience and capability. This is a hands‑on executive opportunity for people who enjoy pace, variety and being close to the work - turning strategy into strong commercial, operational, customer and community outcomes.

You’ll work closely with our CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board to strengthen performance, grow participation, diversify revenue and create exceptional experiences. Most importantly, you’ll help us achieve our purpose: more people riding more often to improve their health and wellbeing.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO, you will be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and lead governance, management systems and organisational performance. You will work closely with the Board and your leadership colleagues, enabling the CEO to focus increasingly on public affairs, advocacy, partnerships and external relationships.

Strategy & Performance

- Lead strategic planning and the ongoing development of Bicycle Network's strategy with the CEO, Leadership Team and Board.
- Support and challenge senior leaders to pursue stretch targets, exceed budgets and build a sustainable annual surplus.
- Build and maintain a sustainable three-year financial and operating model, supported by strategic reporting on financial performance,



impact and reach.

Customer, Events & Participation

- Build a clear understanding of members, riders, participants and customers, and use that insight to improve experience, reach and impact.
- Build and strengthen events through continuous improvement and an uncompromising customer-first approach, with major events planned well in advance and embedded positively in host communities.
- Transform community engagement through capacity, building programs that create greater, lasting and scalable behaviour change.

Commercial & Financial Sustainability

- Provide leadership and support to diversify revenue beyond ticket sales through sponsorship, government investment, fundraising, membership, contracts and new commercial opportunities.

People, Culture & Capacity

- Partner with the GM People and Culture to strengthen structures, performance management, policies, capability and development pathways.

Governance, systems and Transformation

- Drive digital transformation and better use of systems, data, artificial intelligence and emerging technology to improve efficiency, performance and reach.
- Support the Board and its subcommittees, lead effective strategy days and create an environment that welcomes open conversation, questions and curiosity.





We are looking for someone who brings

You will be a senior and experienced executive who combines strategic judgement with commercial acumen, strong financial literacy and an eye for operational detail. You will be energised by Bicycle Network's purpose and motivated by the opportunity to improve people’s health and wellbeing.

- Substantial experience leading complex, multidisciplinary functions and organisational change.
- Demonstrated commercial success across revenue growth, business development, contracts and performance against stretch targets.
- A record of creating exceptional customer experiences and using customer and member insight to improve performance.
- Experience leading major events, complex programs or comparable customer-facing operations.
- Solid capability in budgeting, forecasting, governance, risk, Board reporting and long-term financial planning.
- Experience leading digital transformation and using data to improve decisions, customer outcomes and organisational impact.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent senior executive experience. A CA, CPA or comparable qualification would be highly regarded for the finance-focused portfolio.
