Business Support Officer
At the NSW Department of Education, we educate and inspire lifelong learners - from early childhood, through schooling to vocational education and training.
- Temporary Full time Role up to 30 June 2027
- Package includes salary $102,936.00 - $113,579.00 p.a. plus superannuation and annual leave loading
About the role
- Provide a range of business support services, completing financial and purchasing transactions utilising appropriate systems and processes
- Receive and respond to customer enquiries, including telephone and face-to-face enquiries, providing information and appropriately referring enquiries where required
- Maintain the TRIM computerised records management system for the assigned Asset Management region by creating, storing, retrieving and archiving
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to proactively resolve issues and provide financial and administrative information
- Prepare correspondence and reports, utilising relevant software applications and corporate systems
- Maintain project and contract systems to ensure the provision of timely, accurate and reliable financial data and information
- Prepare and review contract documentation to support timely and professional stakeholder communications
About you
- A team player, who is a self-motivated individual with experience meeting administrative deadlines
- Advanced Excel skills,
Adobe and other Microsoft Workplace applications skills
- Understand and apply procurement processes to ensure effective purchasing and contract performance
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with customers, colleagues and stakeholders, working collaboratively to improve service efficiency and consistency
- Thrive in a fast paced and high-volume workplace with robust organisational skills in balancing a range of competing and conflicting priorities
- Proven time management and strong communication skills with high attention to detail
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Experience in providing high quality, customer focused business support in a fast paced, collaborative team environment
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

Note:
the selection process will include a range of assessment techniques to assist in determining your suitability for the role. Successful candidates will be required to undertake pre-employment screening for this role which includes a National Criminal History Check.
As a condition of employment, successful candidates not currently employed by the Department must provide a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance number. Renewal is not required after the WWCC expires, as long as you remain in a non-child-related role. Employer obligations only apply while the WWCC is valid.
Candidates must have Australian work rights (citizens, permanent residents, New Zealand citizens or a valid work visa). Ongoing (permanent) roles are open to Australian citizens and permanent residents and New Zealand citizens, while temporary roles welcome applicants with a visa.
