On behalf of Colombian’s Machine, we have been supplying a comprehensive range of earthmoving, construction plant, demolition, asbestos removal and haulage equipment to companies, councils, and individual customers across the Sydney region for years. We supply various civil construction, building, plumbing, electrical and landscaping industries. Additionally, Colombian’s Machine is exporting machinery to South America.
Due to continued growth in our operations and the increasing volume and complexity of our equipment hire, demolition, excavation, asbestos removal and civil construction activities, Colombian's Machine is seeking a full-time Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator to manage and coordinate WHS systems across our business operations and project activities. Key Responsibilities, but not limited to:
- Develop, implement and review environmental health management plans and occupational health and safety plans relevant to the company's equipment hire, excavation, demolition, asbestos removal and civil construction activities.
- Identify workplace hazards and assess and control risks associated with plant, machinery, excavation, demolition,
asbestos and other hazardous materials.
- Develop, implement and monitor programs to minimise workplace and environmental pollution involving chemical and physical hazards.
- Inspect and audit workplaces, plant, equipment and work processes to assess compliance with applicable WHS and environmental health legislation and requirements.
- Prepare and implement appropriate strategies for the safe and suitable handling, storage and disposal of commercial and industrial waste and hazardous substances generated through the company's operations.
- Advise management and relevant personnel on WHS and environmental health legislation, compliance requirements and appropriate risk control measures.
- Develop and deliver WHS training, including training in personal protective equipment, safe working procedures and hazards associated with equipment operation, excavation, demolition and asbestos-related activities.
- Record and investigate workplace injuries, incidents, near misses and equipment damage, report safety performance and recommend measures to prevent recurrence.
- Identify non-compliance and unsafe conditions,
recommend corrective actions and monitor their implementation.
- Coordinate the return of injured workers to the workplace, where applicable, in consultation with management and relevant parties.
- Promote ergonomic principles by assessing the suitability of equipment and work activities to the needs of employees.
- Coordinate ongoing WHS activities, maintain WHS documentation and records, and support continuous improvement of the company's WHS systems across its facilities, equipment hires operations and project sites.
To ensure that you are successful in this role, you will possess/demonstrate:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, or a related field.
- At least 2 - 3 years of proven experience in the field
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and standards applicable to construction sites.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- High-risk work experience (work at heights, confined spaces, etc)
- Preferably Spanish and English speakers
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Availability to regularly visit company facilities, customer locations and project sites across Sydney and surrounding areas
- Implementation experience in ISO 9001, 14000, and 45000 standards
- Excellent time management and organisational skills are a must.
Salary Offered: The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $80.000 – $90.000 p.a. plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week. CRUZ0017
