The Islamic College of Brisbane is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Music Teacher to join our teaching team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator who can inspire students to develop their musical knowledge, creativity and confidence through engaging classroom learning and practical music experiences.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality Music education aligned with the Australian Curriculum and the College's teaching and learning expectations.
The successful applicant will contribute to a positive and engaging learning environment and support the continued development of music and performing arts opportunities across the College.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Music lessons appropriate to students' ages, abilities and learning needs.
- Develop students' skills in performance, composition, listening and music appreciation.
- Provide opportunities for students to develop confidence in instrumental and/or vocal performance.
- Assess, monitor and report on student learning and achievement.
- Establish a positive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, participation and creativity.
- Contribute to College performances, assemblies, celebrations and special events.
- Support the development of choirs or other co-curricular music and performing arts activities where appropriate.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and College leadership to strengthen Music and Performing Arts opportunities.
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents and colleagues.
- Participate in College professional development, meetings and broader school activities.
- Uphold the Islamic ethos, values and expectations of the College.
About You
We are looking for an educator who is passionate about Music and enjoys encouraging young people to discover and develop their musical abilities.
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- Relevant tertiary teaching qualifications.
- Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration, or eligibility to obtain registration.
- Demonstrated capability to teach Music / Performing Arts within a school environment.
- Solid classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Ability to develop engaging, practical and inclusive learning experiences.
- Strong communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team.
- Willingness to contribute to performances, events and co-curricular activities.
- Commitment to student wellbeing, child safety and professional standards.
- Respect for and willingness to support the Islamic ethos and values of the College.
Instrumental expertise and experience coordinating school performances, choirs or other Performing Arts activities will be highly regarded.
