Inventia Genetic Technologies Pty Ltd (IGT) is seeking an experienced and dedicated Bovine Reproduction Specialist - OPU/ET to join our team in Alderley, QLD. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our reproductive technology operations. As a Bovine Reproduction Specialist, you will be responsible for the collection, processing, and management of bovine reproductive materials in the field, directly supporting our mission to advance genetic improvement in cattle through assisted reproductive technologies. This role is essential to the success of our clients and the livestock industry, requiring both technical expertise and a strong commitment to animal welfare.
Key responsibilities
Collect bovine oocytes from client farms using appropriate techniques and protocols
Prepare and process reproductive materials to laboratory specifications, ensuring optimal viability and quality
Perform embryo transfer (ET) procedures on recipient cattle, maintaining accurate records of all procedures and outcomes
Monitor and document the health and condition of cattle throughout the IVF process
Maintain and sterilise equipment used in the field collection and transfer procedures
Provide technical support and education to farm staff regarding animal handling and procedure requirements
Transport reproductive materials safely between farm sites and the laboratory, adhering to biosecurity and regulatory requirements
Maintain detailed records of all procedures, client information, and outcome data
Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards and relevant legislation during all field operations
Liaise with the laboratory team to coordinate timing and quality requirements for collected materials
What we're looking for
Minimum of 7 years demonstrated experience with ultrasound performing bovine oocyte aspiration and IVF embryo transfer;
Minimum of 7 years demonstrated experience working with cattle and handling bovine reproductive materials;
Minimum of 7 years demonstrated knowledge of bovine reproduction, oocyte collection techniques, and embryo transfer procedures;
Sound understanding of animal welfare principles and biosecurity protocols, Workplace, Health and Safety requirements, including risk management;
Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail in technical procedures;
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with farm clients and laboratory colleagues;
Valid driver's licence and reliability for field-based work across multiple locations;
Physical fitness to perform demanding fieldwork in varying weather conditions;
Organisational skills and the ability to maintain comprehensive procedural records;
Commitment to continuous professional development in reproductive technologies, including training local staff in the OPU & ET technique ;
Must have a valid authority to work in Australia.
