The Role
The Senior Project Controls Subject Matter Experts are the organisation’s technical authority for Project Controls, providing expert advice, applying contemporary best practice, and resolving complex scheduling challenges across Defence projects and programs. The roles support informed decision making through the provision of trusted technical guidance, assurance and stakeholder engagement.
The Roles:
- Lead the development and governance of project scheduling capability, including methodologies, standards, procedures, templates and guidance, ensuring consistent application of project controls practices and alignment with organisational requirements driving capability uplift through training, coaching and mentoring, strengthening technical expertise across the workforce.
- Provide specialist leadership and assurance for Schedule Confidence Risk Reviews (SC2R), Schedule Confidence Risk Analysis Methodology (SCRAM) activities and Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBR), facilitating delivery of independent assessments of schedule quality, risk and delivery confidence.
- Develop Commonwealth capability by building and mentoring a sustainable pool of Project Controls and review Subject Matter Experts in this field.
About our Team
The Strategy,
Planning and Independent Assurance is responsible for ensuring that capability program delivery is set up for success through collaboration in the early stages of capability and capacity planning. The Division provides Smart Buyer and Independent Assurance services, and consolidated performance assessment and reporting across Defence Delivery Groups. The Division leads on program management policy and practice, and is responsible for contracting and demand planning.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidates will bring the following to the role;
- Serve as the organisation’s technical authority for Project Controls, providing expert advice, applying contemporary best practice, resolving complex scheduling challenges, and communicating technical concepts effectively to influence decisions.
- Build organisational capability through training, coaching and mentoring, developing practical learning materials, transferring knowledge, and strengthening scheduling expertise across the workforce.
- Lead scheduling capability and governance, developing and maintaining methodologies, standards, procedures, templates and guidance that align with organisational requirements and support consistent application across projects.
- Provide senior specialist leadership and assurance for SC2R, SCRAM and Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBR), delivering independent assessments of schedule quality, risk and delivery confidence, while mentoring Commonwealth personnel to build organisational capability and a sustainable pool of review Subject Matter Experts.
