The Attorney‑General’s Department (AGD) is a keyportfolio within the South Australian Government, employing more than 1,900staff. AGD delivers high‑level legal services and advice to Ministers andgovernment agencies, provides specialist policy support, oversees regulationand compliance functions, and delivers essential services directly to thecommunity.

Consumer and Business Services (CBS) is a divisionof the Attorney-General’s Department and is responsible for protectingconsumers, supporting and regulating businesses and recording significant lifeevents for South Australians. CBS is customer focussed and flexible in itsactivities, providing accessible information and services.

Consumer and Business Services (CBS) is seekingexpressions of interest for an Assessment Officer up until 25 June 2027.

This is anexcellent opportunity to join a high ‑ performingteam responsible for assessing complaints across more than 30 pieces oflegislation. As an Assessment Officer, you will review complex information,interpret statutory requirements and analyse evidence to determine whetherbreaches have occurred, providing explicit, well ‑ reasonedand defensible recommendations that support CBS’s regulatory functions.

You will manage your own matters from end to endwhile working collaboratively with complainants, colleagues and stakeholders todeliver timely, accurate and consistent assessment outcomes.



The role offersthe chance to contribute to fair and transparent regulatory decision ‑ making, strengthen consumer protections and supportthe effective operation of the Compliance and Enforcement Branch.

What You’ll Do

- Assess complaints and determine whether breaches of legislation have occurred
- Analyse information and apply legislative frameworks to form sound recommendations
- Prepare clear, concise and defensible written assessments
- Communicate professionally with complainants and stakeholders
- Contribute to continuous improvementand a positive, collaborative team environment
