This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced civil construction professional who enjoys leading from the front. In this role, you will expertly undertake bridge maintenance and construction activities, coordinate work crews, operate specialist plant and equipment, and help develop the capability of team members while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

COULD THIS BE YOU?

You are an experienced civil construction professional with a strong background in bridge maintenance and infrastructure works. You have demonstrated experience operating a range of specialist plant and equipment and are confident leading and coordinating crews to deliver safe, productive and high-quality outcomes. With a sound understanding of construction and maintenance techniques, you proactively identify and manage risks, solve problems as they arise and contribute to a strong safety culture. Your communication skills enable you to provide clear direction, build positive relationships with team members, contractors and customers, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team to achieve project objectives.

In this role you will:

- Carry out daily bridge maintenance and servicing activities across Council's infrastructure network;
- Operate specialist plant and equipment including backhoes, excavators, skid-steer loaders, Hiab cranes and associated machinery;
- Coordinate and supervise site activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in the correct sequence;
- Provide leadership, support and direction to crew members on-site;
- Assist with the training and instruction of staff in the safe and effective operation of plant and equipment;
- Monitor work quality and ensure compliance with relevant standards, specifications and procedures;
- Identify hazards, assess risks and promote a strong safety culture across all work activities;




- Assist in resolving operational issues and contributing to the successful delivery of bridge maintenance and construction programs.

Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, together with a commitment to safety and quality outcomes, are essential for success in this role.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED:

- Certificate III in Civil Construction or a related discipline, OR relevant experience, typically 5-10 years, in a related field
- Medium Rigid (MR) Driver Licence
- OHS Construction Induction Card
- SafeWork Traffic Control Certificates including Apply Traffic Control Plans and/or Stop/Slow Bat

Salary range: Grade 9 - $1,293.00 - $1,399.20 per week plus 12% superannuation for a 38-hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.

Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to undertake a Pre-employment Medical Screening including Alcohol & Other Drugs Testing.
