What if tyre recycling produced zero emissions? Our exclusive client has engineered the breakthrough technology to make this a reality, transforming tyres back into high-value oil, carbon black, and steel. With their cutting-edge facility entering its final development phase, they need a tool-wielding, proactive Maintenance Specialist to help bring this plant online and drive the team forward.
About the Role:
This is not a desk job. We are looking for a true mechanical professional who thrives in a workshop workplace and prefers working with their hands. Whether you are a Trade-Certified Fitter/Millwright with extensive industrial plant experience, or a Qualified Mechanical Engineer who deliberately chooses the plant floor over an office cubicle, this role is for you.
Based at our client's Warren industrial plant and reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this dual-focused position balances day-to-day mechanical maintenance with operational leadership. You will work directly on the plant floor, helping leading shifts, and naturally progress into the site's second-in-charge (2IC).
Key Responsibilities:

- Spanners & Tools Maintenance: Perform hands-on maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on pumps, conveyors, valves, and complex rotating equipment.
- Workshop & Fabrication: Undertake some general fabrication for machinery modifications, and manage the spare parts inventory.
- Operational Leadership: once established act as Shift Leader when required to coordinate production and mentor plant operators.
- TPM Development: Help develop,

implement, and improve our Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) programs to maximise plant uptime.
- Safety & Compliance: Champion site OH&S; systems, including risk assessments, hot work permits, and strict lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) protocols.

What you will bring to the role:

- The Right Background: You must fit "one"of the following profiles:
- A relevant mechanical trade qualification (e.g., Mechanical Fitter, Turner, Millwright) backed by some industrial plant experience.
- Or: A tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering with a proven track record of choosing and enjoying hands-on, on-the-tools field work.

- Plant Expertise: Strong diagnostic and repair skills specifically with pumps, conveyors, and rotating equipment in an industrial or process plant environment.
- Fabrication Skills: Practical and workshop fabrication abilities.
- Leadership Drive: The communication skills and natural authority required to step into a 2IC/Shift Leader capacity.

This position offers a unique pathway to utilise your technical hands-on skills while transitioning into a critical leadership position. You will have a direct impact on shaping our maintenance culture and plant reliability. Furthermore, successful performance opens up opportunities to work on future plant developments, with the next site planned in QLD.

To Apply:
Please submit your updated resume and a brief cover letter highlighting your hands-on plant maintenance experience and why you prefer working on the tools.
