Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking an experienced GP VMO or CMO In-Charge to provide solo Emergency Department coverage in a regional hospital.

This role is ideal for confident, self-directed doctors wanting high-impact rural ED work in a location with strong lifestyle appeal.

You will manage diverse acute presentations independently while supported by experienced nursing staff, retrieval services, anaesthetics and gynaecology teams.

Clinical Environment

- Rural Emergency Department setting
- Solo senior ED coverage
- Day shifts 08:00 – 20:00 and night shifts 20:00 – 08:00
- Support from anaesthetics, gynaecology, retrieval and nursing teams
- Electronic medical records, staff amenities and onsite parking
- Strong autonomy with appropriate support and escalation

Key Duties

- Provide GP VMO / CMO In-Charge ED cover
- Manage acute and high-acuity presentations
- Complete documentation, handover and management plans
- Escalate care appropriately when required
- Work collaboratively with nursing and hospital teams

Requirements

- AHPRA General or Specialist Registration
- Prior Emergency Medicine experience in a senior or solo capacity
- NSW Working with Children Check and National Police Check
- Australian working rights




- Willingness to complete onboarding and hospital credentialing
