The Role We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate with a proactive mindset, strong initiative, and a true dedication to learning to join the team at Bidgel Grazing Co. Reporting directly to the farm owners and senior staff, you will assist across all day-to-day operations of Elvanbrook and Dalkeith, including livestock handling, 2-wheeler motorbike mustering, fencing, water maintenance, and machinery operation.
While basic experience with livestock and machinery is beneficial, attitudes, problem-solving ability, and a genuine eagerness to learn take priority. You will be fully supported and mentored as you build your skills in animal welfare, soil health, and modern AgTech tools like MaiaGrazing, Optiweigh, and Farmbot. This role is ideally suited to single candidates seeking genuine growth and long-term development in progressive agriculture.
The Employer: Located 90 km east of St George and 300 km west of Toowoomba, adjoining properties Elvanbrook and Dalkeith comprise 25,000 HA of regenerative grazing land. As part of a recent Soil Carbon initiative, the successful candidates will work alongside the farm owners to install and operate a large cell grazing scheme to promote vibrant pastures and biodiversity.
The Station Hand role is primarily livestock-focused, maintaining 1,800 Simmental, Santa Gertrudis and Angus breeders, in addition to growing out a further 1,800 weaners, all pasture-fed. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for all aspects of animal health and movement, including mustering with 2-wheeler motorbikes. Infrastructure includes modern, undercover cattle yards and laneway systems.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in fencing and have an understanding of water systems to support the expanding cell grazing operation. Essential requirements for this role include a sincere commitment to animal welfare and prior experience operating heavy machinery such as tractors, graders, and front-end loaders. Additionally,
candidates must be capable of mustering on a two-wheel motorbike across challenging and rough terrain.
The Offer Bidgel Grazing Co. offers a range of accommodation options to suit the needs of its staff, including comfortable 2-bedroom cottages, all in a pleasant creek-side setting. An attractive remuneration package, commensurate with the successful applicant's experience and skills, will be negotiated, with the addition of a work vehicle, electricity, and Starlink included.
St. George is renowned for its inland fishing, with nearby fishing spots including Beardmore Dam, Jack Taylor Weir, and the Balonne River. Toowoomba, known as the Garden City, is a mere three hours away, blending rural roots with modern influences, a city with a vibrant art scene and a growing coffee culture, rich in history and entertainment.
The Ideal Candidate We seek a knowledgeable individual with basic experience in livestock and machinery who possesses a mature and respectful approach to both their professional and personal life. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:
- Good communication skills, honesty, a strong work ethic, and a good sense of humour
