We are a growing Third Party Logistics (3PL) provider offering warehousing, distribution and freight services to customers across Australia. Our south-east Melbourne warehouse handles a diverse mix of general, food-grade and Dangerous Goods (DG) freight for a range of customers, and we are now looking for an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead the site into its next stage of growth.
This is a role for a leader who believes that a protected, compliant warehouse is a productive warehouse, and who has the confidence to hold that line when volumes are high.
The role
Reporting to senior management, you will be accountable for the protected, compliant, accurate and profitable operation of the warehouse. You will lead the inbound and outbound functions through two direct reports, an Inbound Supervisor and an Outbound Supervisor, with a wider floor team of approximately five Forklift Operators, Storeworkers and Pick Packers.
Key responsibilities include:
Owning site safety: leading the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) system, traffic management, inductions, incident investigation, risk assessments and emergency preparedness
Managing DG receipt, storage, segregation and dispatch in line with Victorian DG legislation and the Australian Dangerous Goods (ADG) Code, including registers, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and manifest requirements
Maintaining the site Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) food safety program, including pest control, cleaning, allergen and contamination control, traceability and recall readiness
Hosting customer and certification audits and closing out corrective actions
Leading and developing your Inbound and Outbound Supervisors, setting priorities and holding the team to transparent performance measures
Planning labour, equipment and dock resources to meet service levels across receiving, putaway, picking, packing and dispatch
Driving inventory accuracy through cycle counts, stocktakes and variance investigation within our cloud-based Warehouse Management System (WMS)
Onboarding new customers and products, and ensuring storage and handling charges are captured accurately
Ensuring Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations for loading, mass and load restraint are met before vehicles leave the site
Managing the site budget, rosters, overtime and labour hire
About you
You are a hands-on warehouse leader with a strong compliance background, who is comfortable on the floor and in front of an auditor. You will bring:
At least 5 years of warehousing experience, including 2 or more years as a Warehouse Manager, Operations Manager or Senior Supervisor
Proven experience leading through Supervisors or Team Leaders
Practical experience managing DG storage and segregation in a warehouse environment (essential)
Experience operating under, and being audited against, a HACCP-based food safety program (highly regarded)
Sound knowledge of Victorian OHS obligations and CoR requirements for loading activities
Robust inventory control skills and confidence with a WMS and Microsoft Excel (CartonCloud experience is a bonus)
Multi-customer 3PL experience (highly regarded)
A current forklift high risk work licence (LF), and experienced in High reach and counterbalance.
DG and food safety training; a Certificate IV or Diploma in Warehousing, Logistics or Leadership is desirable
Full working rights in Australia
What we offer
- Permanent, full time position with a market-competitive salary package of $110k plus superannuation
- Genuine authority to run the site, including the authority to stop any task that is not safe or compliant
- A supportive senior team that backs safety and compliance decisions
- The opportunity to shape processes, systems and culture in a growing business
- Ongoing training and professional development
