Temporary Maintenance Fitter / Welder $40+ per hour | 2–3 Month Project | Immediate Start | Yarram
GBS Recruitment is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter / Welder to join our client’s team in Yarram, initially supporting Stage 1 of a mill project for approximately 2–3 months.

This is a hands-on role combining project fabrication and installation with routine plant maintenance and repairs. Subject to Stage 2 proceeding, there may also be an opportunity for further project work in the new year.

About the Role

Working within an operational mill environment, you’ll be involved in:

- Project fabrication and installation work
- Structural MIG and stick welding
- Installation of pipework, hangers and clamps
- Routine plant maintenance and scheduled servicing
- Mechanical repairs and fault finding
- Maintenance of conveyors, pumps and gearboxes
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Supporting plant improvements and upgrades

About You

To be successful, you'll ideally have:

- A relevant trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Fabrication or equivalent
- Proven MIG and stick welding experience




- Practical experience with plant maintenance and mechanical repairs
- Experience in manufacturing, processing or a heavy workshop environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- A robust commitment to workplace safety
- Relevant licences and accreditations where required

The Details

- Location: Yarram
- Duration: Approximately 2–3 months (Stage 1 project)
- Pay rate: Starting from $40 per hour casual, with higher rates available depending on experience
- Further work: Potential Stage 2 project in the new year, subject to the project proceeding
