About the Role

This part-time contract opportunity is suited to an experienced taxation professional who can support the preparation and review of a high volume of individual, trust and estate tax returns. The role will involve providing taxation guidance, responding to income tax enquiries and assisting with communication between internal stakeholders and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

Working within a professional government environment, the successful candidate will apply strong taxation knowledge, attention to detail and administrative capability to ensure accurate and timely processing of taxation matters.

Position: Taxation Advisory Officer
Pay Rate: $42/hr + super
Location: Parramatta
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Hours: 7 hours per day, 21 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Initial 3 months with potential extension




Checks Required: National Criminal Record Check and two reference checks

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare high-volume individual, trust and estate tax returns accurately and efficiently
- Review and verify taxation documentation to ensure compliance with relevant requirements
- Check notices of assessment and identify discrepancies or follow-up actions required
- Respond to income tax enquiries from clients and stakeholders in a timely manner
- Manage correspondence received from the ATO and coordinate appropriate responses
- Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to taxation activities
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders regarding taxation matters
- Assist with resolving routine taxation issues and providing practical guidance
- Monitor workflow priorities to meet deadlines within a high-volume environment

About You

- Previous experience preparing individual, trust and estate tax returns
- Strong understanding of Australian taxation principles and income tax processes
- Experience reviewing notices of assessment and managing taxation enquiries
- Familiarity with ATO correspondence and taxation compliance requirements
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
- Experience within a government, accounting or professional services environment is desirable
- Relevant qualifications in Accounting, Taxation, Finance or a related discipline are highly regarded
- Working knowledge of taxation software and Microsoft Office applications is preferred
- Must have valid working rights in Australia. Sponsorship is not available for this role; applicants must hold Australian permanent residency, Australian citizenship,



or a long-term working visa with unrestricted work rights.
