Eden Ritchie Recruitment are seeking an experienced Legal Services Manager to provide senior legal leadership, complex legal advice and legal risk support within a highly regulated and integrity-focused environment.

This senior role will provide authoritative written and verbal legal advice on complex, sensitive and potentially contentious matters, supporting senior executives and key decision-makers. The position will work across a range of legal areas including regulatory and enforcement matters, investigations, litigation, administrative law, statutory interpretation, governance and policy.

The Legal Services Manager will lead and supervise legal resources and work programs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, timely and practical legal services. The role will also support effective regulatory decision-making, identify and manage legal risk, build legal capability and contribute to continuous improvement and positive team culture.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide high-level legal advice on complex, sensitive and high-risk matters.
- Provide legal risk advice and decision-making support to senior executives and other key stakeholders.
- Advise across regulatory law, enforcement, investigations, litigation, administrative law, statutory interpretation, governance and related matters.
- Prepare high-quality written legal advice, briefs, correspondence and other legal documentation.
- Lead and supervise a legal team, legal function or legal work program.
- Identify, assess and manage legal and regulatory risks.
- Build effective relationships with senior executives, internal stakeholders and external parties.
- Support the development of team capability and a positive, high-performing culture.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and organisational change initiatives.

Candidate Requirements To be considered, candidates must:





- Be admitted to practice as a lawyer/legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland and hold a current practising certificate.
- Have a minimum of 10 years' post-admission experience.
- Have demonstrated experience in at least two of the following: enforcement, regulatory law, investigations, litigation, advocacy, policy, administrative law, statutory interpretation or governance advice.
- Have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior legal role providing complex legal advice, legal risk advice and decision-making support.
- Have a minimum of 3 years' experience within the public sector, statutory authority, regulator, integrity body, law enforcement or a similarly regulated environment.
- Have a minimum of 2 years' experience leading or supervising a legal team, legal function or legal work program.
- Demonstrate experience providing complex and sensitive written and verbal legal advice to senior executives or equivalent decision-makers.
- Possess high-level legal drafting, communication, stakeholder management and customer service skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to build team capability, influence positive culture and support continuous improvement or change initiatives.
- Be able to satisfy required probity and criminal history screening requirements prior to commencement.

Highly Desirable

- At least 2 years' legal experience within the racing industry or a comparable regulated workplace involving integrity, compliance, investigations, enforcement, tribunal or appeals processes, licensing or animal welfare.
- Understanding of the Queensland racing regulatory environment or a comparable integrity-focused sector.
