Moree

Your Next Employer

Our client is a privately owned agricultural contracting business with a growing operation around Moree, NSW.

Their jobs in the district are on large-scale irrigation properties.

They work for a mix of large corporate agribusinesses and private farms, and the fleet sits at over 30 items of plant. On site they're set up with their own truck and fuel trailers, plus service trailers stocked with everything from air-operated oil guns to a pie warmer. They'll put more machines on as demand builds.

The owners built the business from the ground up and still spend time in the seat themselves. They hold a high bar on clean gear, punctual starts, secure decisions and good client manners, and they back good people properly. The gear is well supported, and operators are trusted to get on with the job.

The Role

You'll play a key role in building out the Moree operation, starting on the laser bucket and reporting directly to the owners.

The work is major irrigation development, from water storages through to field redevelopment and relasering, with other farm projects in the pipeline. Other gear is likely to come into the role as those projects pick up.

This is not a role where someone stands over you all day. You'll often work solo or with a small crew on client properties, managing your machine, the job and the maintenance list with minimal direction.

The right person takes pride in the way the job is done and doesn't wait to be told. That means knowing where the next fuel and parts are coming from, looking after the machine you're on, and turning up on a wet day with its service list already written. On a job, it means seeing the next step before anyone has to point it out.

For someone who wants good hours, the freedom to operate without corporate layers and room to grow with the business, it's a strong fit. No clipboards for the sake of it, no standing around waiting for three approvals to move a shovel.

Just good operators doing good work. Radical concept, apparently.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate the laser bucket. Run tractor and laser bucket across field redevelopment, relasering and storage batters, stepping onto other plant when the job calls for it.
- Deliver accurate field work. Work to GPS guidance and keep a clean finish the client can sign off on.
- Manage your own jobs. Take work from start to finish, often without an owner on site, while keeping communication clear and practical.
- Look after your machine. Grease and service it, change hoses and diagnose faults in the field, and call in a mechanic for anything bigger.
- Make wet days count. Use wet weather for welding, repairs and bigger services, so everything's ready when it dries out.
- Bring operators on. Lead by example, and train newer operators across the gear as the team expands.
- Represent the business. Work safely alongside other contractors, meet client site requirements including inductions and PPE, maintain valuable presentation, and deal with clients in a straight, respectful way.

What You Bring

You're an experienced operator who can be left to run the show, and wants to help build something.

Essential:

- Strong work ethic and the right attitude.
- Proven laser bucket experience, finishing irrigation fields to grade.
- A record of maintaining and fault-finding on your own machine.
- The judgement to think a job ahead and act on it without being told.
- Comfortable working autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Clear communication with owners, clients and other operators.
- Honest,

accountable and reliable.
- Current Driver's Licence.

Advantageous:

- Water storage construction experience.
- Irrigation field development or bankless layout experience.
- GPS or precision guidance experience.
- Excavator or broader earthworks experience.
- Welding and fabrication skills, or a mechanical trade background.
- HC, MC or road train licence.
- Experience leading a small crew.

You don't need to tick every box. Operators who have contracted on their own gear will be well regarded, as will anyone from an earthmoving, civil or irrigation development background. A connection to the Moree district, or another reason to be there long term, is a plus.

What You'll Gain

- Package: $50 - $60 per hour flat rate + super + bonus, with the top of the range for an operator who maintains the gear and leads the crew, plus a LandCruiser ute with full private use and servicing supplied.
- Hours: Around 50-60 hours per week, with Sundays kept clear.
- Travel: Your hours start when you leave home in the morning, not when you arrive on farm, with travel paid both ways.
- Housing: A housing allowance or on-farm accommodation, depending on experience.
- Lifestyle: Local work, plus four weeks' annual leave the business backs you to take.
- Support: Owners who back their people, help good operators get the licences and tickets to step up, and keep them well resourced.
- Tools: An allowance for your own tools, and the business replaces anything broken on the job.
