Senior Data Analyst and Insights

The Closing the Gap Priority Reform 4 (PR4) Program, within NSW Department of Customer Service (DCS), is currently looking for a Senior Data Analyst and Insights to join their team!

- Temporary Clerk Grade 9/10 prospect – until 30 June 2028
- Salary Range: $133,348 - 146,945 + super
- Location: McKell, Haymarket. Genuinely hybrid working arrangements – two days per week on site.

About Us

Between 2025-28 the Department of Customer Service (DCS) will work in partnership with Aboriginal Affairs (AANSW) and the NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (NSW CAPO) to deliver the Closing the Gap (CtG) Priority Reform 4 (PR4) implementation actions and Aboriginal Data Sovereignty and Governance (ADS&G;) reform development work program (PR4 Program). DCS will work with all NSW government agencies on key implementation actions on behalf of the partnership, to improve shared access to and shared decision-making regarding NSW Government-held data for Aboriginal communities.

Primary purpose of the role:

The Senior Data Analyst and Insights is a key member of the Data Products and Digital Strategy team, responsible for transforming complex business challenges, stakeholder needs and diverse perspectives into actionable analytics, metrics, dashboards and reporting. Leveraging strong analytical, visualisation and data storytelling capabilities, the role provides expert advice and clear, evidence-based insights to support executive decision-making, program delivery and strategic partnerships.

The Senior Data Analyst and Insights contributes to the successful delivery of the NSW Priority Reform 4 agenda in partnership with Aboriginal community stakeholders, ensuring data, insights and digital solutions align with community priorities and support NSW Government commitments under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Source, filter, interpret and analyse complex data/business intelligence information to answer multifaceted business problems including the identification of trends and/or patterns in complex data sets, to create inference or insights that are presented in the most appropriate format to ensure clarity for target audience
- Contribute to the development and implementation of reports or strategies to improve the collection, analysis, reporting and utilisation of data and information, including monitoring of business performance,



and evaluation to inform decision making
- Analyse complex information and data from multiple sources to deliver effective and innovative solutions in a meaningful way while managing multiple deadlines and ensuring high level of accuracy and quality of work
- Engage and influence a diverse range of stakeholders to develop trust and ensure their varying expectations, viewpoints, and interests inform the development of the data analysis and program reporting

About you:

- You are a skilled data storyteller who can translate complex business challenges, stakeholder requirements and diverse perspectives into meaningful metrics, insights and reporting, presenting information clearly and concisely to support informed decision-making across a range of audiences.
- You have an eye for data visualisation and report design, creating intuitive dashboards, charts and performance reports that transform complex data into engaging, accessible and actionable insights for diverse stakeholders in community and government.
- Experience working with modern analytics tools and cloud-based data environments, with proficiency in Power BI, Python and SQL
- Demonstrated experience applying a range of statistical and analytical techniques to support reporting, performance monitoring, program evaluation and evidence-based decision-making.
- Proven experience delivering end-to-end business intelligence solutions, including data modelling, ETL development, dashboard creation and report design using platforms such as Power BI, Databricks and Snowflake.
- Experience with geospatial data analysis and visualisation is desirable but not essential. We value diverse experiences.
