INTERNAL OPPORTUNITY
Team Leader – The Way Back Support Service
Permanent Full time
Toowoomba
An opportunity is available for an existing RFQ employee to step into the Team Leader, The Way Back Support Service role. The Way Back Support Service provides non-clinical psychosocial support to people experiencing a suicidal crisis or following a suicide attempt, supporting people during a critical period and helping strengthen connection with the right services and supports.
As Team Leader, you will provide day-to-day leadership to the service and play an important role in supporting the team to deliver safe, high-quality and person-centred support. You will help create a positive and accountable team culture, support employees to grow in their practice, and provide guidance through the complex and sometimes sensitive situations that arise within the service.
The role brings together people leadership, operational oversight and service quality. You will support workforce planning and service delivery, monitor performance, contribute to quality and continuous improvement, and help ensure the service continues to meet its contractual, organisational and practice requirements. You will also work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to maintain strong relationships and support coordinated outcomes for the people accessing the service.
This is a role for someone who can balance the needs of people, the team and the service. You will need to be comfortable making decisions, managing competing priorities, identifying and escalating risk where required, and supporting employees through coaching, feedback and development. The Team Leader role also contributes to broader program and organisational priorities, including service improvement, change initiatives and strengthening the way we work.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings a strong people focus, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to RFQ’s values.
You will have experience leading, supporting or developing teams within human services, community services, health, mental health, psychosocial support or a related environment, together with an understanding of what is required to deliver a safe, responsive and high-quality service.
You will also bring:
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees, participants, families, carers and external stakeholders.
- The ability to provide operational leadership in a complex service environment and balance service quality, participant outcomes and organisational priorities.
- An understanding of person-centred, recovery-oriented, strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches.
- Sound judgement, critical thinking and confidence managing competing priorities and complex situations.
- A solid focus on quality, accountability, risk and continuous improvement.
- The ability to support and develop others through coaching, reflective practice and ongoing feedback.
- Confidence using systems, technology and data to support service performance and informed decision-making.
- A compassionate, ethical and flexible approach, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
