Salary: $80,000 – $95,000 plus superannuation

Position Purpose

All Asian Foods Pty Ltd is a food wholesale and distribution business based in Yennora, NSW. It supplies chilled dairy, sweets and other packaged food products to retail stockists and trade customers, and relies on its ordering, inventory, dispatch and accounting systems to get the right stock to the right customer on time.

The Software Engineer designs, develops, implements and maintains the software that runs these operations and supports the growth of the business. The role works closely with management, sales, warehouse and accounts staff to understand how the business operates, and turns those requirements into practical and reliable software. The position is also responsible for the ongoing improvement, security, performance and integration of the company’s applications, databases and business systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyse business and system requirements across sales, ordering, warehousing, dispatch and accounts, and determine appropriate software solutions.
- Design, develop, modify, test, implement and maintain the software applications used across the business, including customer ordering, inventory, dispatch and reporting systems.
- Develop and maintain the systems that receive and process orders from stockists and trade customers, including daily order deadlines, order confirmations and delivery scheduling.
- Build and maintain inventory and stock control functions covering product codes, batch numbers, use by dates and stock rotation for chilled and ambient food products.
- Support product traceability and recall readiness, so that batch, supplier and customer delivery records can be retrieved quickly and accurately in line with food safety requirements.




- Develop and maintain integrations between the ordering, inventory and accounting systems, supplier and customer platforms, and other third party software so that information flows accurately between them.
- Maintain product, pricing and customer master data, including price lists, customer specific pricing and product information.
- Develop sales and operational reports that give management clear information on sales by product and customer, stock levels and order volumes.
- Write, review and improve code so that applications are efficient, reliable, secure and suitable for business requirements.
- Prepare technical specifications, software designs, system architecture and workflows before implementing new solutions or making significant system changes.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify and troubleshoot software defects, application errors and system issues and implement fixes, giving priority to anything that affects order processing, dispatch or deliveries.
- Investigate technical incidents and system failures, identify the root cause and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor system performance and availability, particularly during peak ordering and dispatch times, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the deployment, configuration and maintenance of applications and databases so that business information remains accurate, available and reliable.
- Apply appropriate software security and data protection practices,



including the protection of customer, supplier and employee information.
- Maintain technical documentation for software applications, system configurations, integrations and system changes.
- Test new functionality and system changes against business and technical requirements before they are released.
- Provide technical advice, training and support to office, sales and warehouse staff on the systems they use.
- Evaluate new technologies, such as mobile tools for warehouse and delivery staff, and recommend improvements where they add value to the business.
- Assist with system upgrades and changes while minimising disruption to ordering, warehouse and delivery operations.
- Work with internal teams and external technology providers where required to deliver and support software solutions.

Skill & Experience

Key Skills and Competencies

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science / software engineer – programming.
- 1-2 years minimum experience.
- Strong software development and programming skills.
- Good understanding of software design and development principles.
- Ability to analyse business and technical requirements.
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of databases, reporting and system integration.
- Understanding software testing and quality assurance.
- Knowledge of software security and data protection practices.
- Understanding of, or the ability to quickly learn, wholesale food distribution processes such as order management, inventory control, batch traceability and dispatch.
- Ability to prepare and maintain technical documentation.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to explain technical matters to non technical staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Solid attention to detail and commitment to software quality.
- Ability to manage priorities and deliver work within required timeframes.
