HorizonOne Recruitment
Canberra
Provide the operational backbone for two national antimicrobial resistance surveillance systems, in a small, technical team.
Our client is responsible for protecting the health of Australians through national disease surveillance, preparedness and response. The agency oversees major national surveillance systems, and this work sits at the frontline of one of the most significant long-term public health challenges facing Australia and the world.
The Opportunity
There is a labour hire contract opportunity to support the day-to-day management of two national antimicrobial resistance surveillance systems, working alongside the Program Manager and Senior Project Officer.
You’ll provide operational, administrative and secretariat support across contracts and procurement, stakeholder engagement, data governance and data requests, reporting and communications, and coordination of data dashboards and analytics. Support a nationally significant public health surveillance function, rather than a generic administrative role.
- Work closely with a small, technical team, with direct exposure to public health and microbiology expertise
- Build genuine breadth across contracts, stakeholder engagement, data governance and reporting, rather than a single narrow function
- A long-running contract through to mid-2028, with an extension option, offering real continuity
- Flexible working arrangements, with remote work considered by agreement
The Role
This is a diverse project support role covering the operational and administrative backbone of two national surveillance systems.
You’ll be:
- Providing secretariat and internal coordination support across contracts and procurement, stakeholder engagement, data governance and reporting
- Supporting the management of contracts and procurement processes related to the surveillance systems
- Coordinating stakeholder engagement activities across internal and external parties
- Supporting data governance processes and manage incoming data requests
- Assisting with reporting, publications and communications related to the surveillance programs
- Coordinating data dashboards and analytics activities in support of the Program Manager and Senior Project Officer
- Providing broader operational and administrative support to the team as required
The Ideal Person
You’re organised, reliable, and comfortable juggling a varied workload across contracts, stakeholders and data requests. A background in public health, microbiology or laboratory settings would help you get up to speed quickly, though it isn’t essential.
You will bring the following skills and experience:
- Experience in a project support, secretariat or administrative role within a government or technical environment
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines
- Experience supporting contracts, procurement or stakeholder engagement activities
- Clear written communication skills, with experience supporting reporting or publications
Ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance is required.
It’s also desirable if you have:
- Knowledge or experience in public health, microbiology or laboratory settings
- Experience with data governance processes or coordinating data dashboards and analytics
Salary
- $60/hr – $65/hr + Super
- Labour hire contract from late November 2026 until 30 June 2028, with an option to extend by up to 12 months
- Nationwide, with locations in major cities and flexible or remote working arrangements available by agreement
