Grade: 9/10
Salary range: $133,348-146,945 + superannuation and leave loading
Duration: temporary full-time role until 30 June 2027
Location: Hybrid with an in-office requirement 2 days a week in Sydney, McKell. This may be subject to change in line with DCS workplace policies

Lead personnel security initiatives that help protect critical infrastructure, people and information across NSW Telco Authority.

Act as the organisation's subject matter expert for personnel security, providing strategic advice on security vetting, insider threat management, security governance and compliance while supporting the uplift of protective security capability across the organisation.

About the team

This role sits within the Protective Security Unit in NSW Telco Authority.

The team is responsible for implementing and maintaining protective security practices across a complex operational environment. It provides risk-based security advice, supports security incident management, ensures compliance with security legislation and standards, and works collaboratively with operational staff, contractors and stakeholders to protect critical infrastructure, assets, people and information.

Your responsibilities will include

- Leading the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of personnel security policies, procedures and standards

- Providing specialist advice on security clearances, employment screening, personnel security risks and protective security obligations

- Acting as the organisation's subject matter expert on personnel security, insider threat management and security vetting

- Developing and delivering personnel security initiatives that strengthen organisational security maturity and compliance

- Supporting security governance, risk management and compliance activities across the organisation

- Building strong relationships with executives, People & Culture teams, hiring managers and operational stakeholders

- Preparing high-quality briefings, reports and recommendations for senior leaders and governance forums

To be successful in this role you will have

- Essential Security Clearance: You will be able to obtain and retain minimum Baseline Security clearance within six months to work with sensitive government and critical communications information

- Demonstrated project management experience,



including planning, coordinating and delivering strategic initiatives within competing priorities

- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and collaborate across all organisational levels

- Proven experience preparing high-quality executive collateral, including briefing notes, executive papers, presentations and reports

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, practical advice

- Experience working in a risk, governance, security, compliance or operational environment requiring sound judgement and analytical thinking

- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Desirable:

- Experience in personnel security, including security clearances, employment screening, suitability assessments or insider threat management

- Experience delivering worker screening or personnel vetting initiatives

- Knowledge of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and personnel security requirements

- Experience supporting organisational change, awareness programs and adoption of new security processes and controls
