- This is a leadership position, managing a team of Mobilisers and Organisers as well as an Activists Support Administator to achieve tangible impact.
- Flexible location, with some travel and some work outside usual office hours.
- Salary $100,877.31 per annum, plus super and not-for-profit salary packaging

Purpose of the position

As the Community Campaigns Manager, you champion people power and bring our AIA strategy and vision to life by embedding organising and mobilising in campaigns as core campaigning practices. You foster a culture of learning, creativity and professionalism to ensure that our campaigning efforts are driving increased impact for human rights and visibly demonstrating people power. Together with your team, you ensure that campaigns centre and amplify the voice of lived-in experience and drive the team to build partnerships, coalitions and networks with communities, institutions, movements and the social justice sector working towards a thriving human rights community in Australia.

You provide oversight across the breadth of campaigns to ensure that organising and mobilising is mapped within campaigns and bring staff and activists along.

Key Duties

Strategic Alignment + Collaboration

- Lead the campaigning team to develop, execute, and monitor cohesive community change strategies that deliver AIA’s people-powered vision at depth and scale
- Collaborate with the Campaign Strategy + Advocacy Manager and Community Engagement Manager to ensure integrated campaign strategies and alignment on people-powered KPIs
- Drive integration and strategic coherence in the team and across the unit

Innovation + Movement Growth

- Foster a culture of creativity and experimentation to grow and energise the human rights movement in Australia
- Build a data-driven team that uses community mapping and audience insights to develop impactful, evidence-based tactics
- Leverage individual at-risk cases and global solidarity moments to support movement growth

Community Voice + Adaptive Campaigning

- Centre communities with lived experience in campaign strategy, ensuring their priorities and leadership shape our work
- Develop processes that enable autonomous campaigning and amplify community and movement demands




- Equip the team with adaptive strategies to navigate shrinking civic space effectively

Diversity, Inclusion + Wellbeing

- Embed diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing commitments into team practices and campaign design
- Foster an inclusive team environment that values lived experience as essential to effective campaigning
- Other tasks within your skills and competence as required

Qualifications + Experience

- Significant experience designing and leading community change or social justice campaigns with demonstrated results
- Experience working in partnership with communities of lived experience, including co-design approaches that centre their priorities and expertise
- Track record of building networks and coalitions to advance shared goals
- Experience leading and developing teams in a campaigning, advocacy, or community organising context
- Experience driving cross-functional collaboration and organisational alignment on strategic priorities
- Strong project management experience, coordinating multiple initiatives, manage competing priorities, and deliver agreed outcomes
- Experience designing and managing stakeholder consultation processes

Desirable

- Understanding of global and local human rights issues relevant to Amnesty International Australia’s work
- Experience working within or alongside social movements
- Familiarity with digital campaigning tools, mobilisation platforms, and CRM systems.

Department: Community Campaigning, People Powered Campaigns (PPCU)

Location: Based in any Action Centre. The role may involve interstate/regional travel as required as well as some out of office hours work.

Employment: Permanent, full-time, Level 8

Reports to: Campaigning Director
