Your next career opportunity
You will deliver welcoming, high-quality frontline services in the Archives and Special Collections Reading Room. You will support researchers accessing rare materials, while developing skills in collection care and user experience.
What you will deliver:
- Provide responsive frontline services in the Reading Room across face-to-face, email, virtual channels and telephone.
- Maintain Reading Room operations, ensuring collection security, appropriate invigilation, and a welcoming, professional environment.
- Support researchers to use databases and discovery systems for collection access.
- Undertake retrieval, tracking and reshelving of collection items using library and collection management software.
- Contribute to collection management, digitisation and descriptive projects, applying relevant library and archival standards.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Hold undergraduate qualification in museum studies, archives, librarianship, information sciences, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Deliver excellent customer service in busy,
front-facing environments with varied researcher and student needs.
- Work effectively within small teams, collaborating flexibly across Student and Scholarly Services portfolios.
- Apply strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in person, online and by telephone.
- Use databases, catalogues and request management systems to support reference services and track collection items.
- Handle cultural collections, such as rare books, archives or music, with care and attention to preservation.
