As the Child Health Outreach Program Nurse/AHP is integral to the Child Health Outreach Program working collaboratively with children 0 – 15 years and their families to facilitate and support children with complex chronic healthcare needs through coordination of care to optimise health outcomes. The position has a solid clinical focus on outreach work including liaison with internal and external stakeholders involved in the child and family’s care.
The Location:
You will be located amid rugged ranges, red-earth landscapes and the winding Finke River, this remote Aboriginal community has a rich Western Arrarnta cultural heritage and strong connections to Aboriginal art, storytelling and traditional practices. The area is renowned for its association with celebrated Aboriginal artist Albert Namatjira and the distinctive watercolour style. Highlights include historic cultural sites, local Aboriginal art and pottery, and spectacular surrounding scenery featuring ancient riverbeds, dramatic red-rock formations, gorges, waterholes and palm-filled valleys.
The Organisation:
You will be working for a fantastic health service based in Central Australia. For over 40 years this health service has provided support and advocacy for Aboriginal people in the struggle for justice and equity.
They are now one of the largest Aboriginal community-controlled health organisations in the Northern Territory, providing a comprehensive, holistic and culturally appropriate primary health care service to Aboriginal people living in and nearby Alice Springs, including five remote communities.
To be eligible for this position you must:
- Fully registered with AHPRA with no restrictions
- Demonstrated understanding of primary health care and developing clinical knowledge of chronic disease management and/or child health
- Demonstrated well developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills including ability to communicate sensitively in a cross-cultural environment with Aboriginal clients and staff
- Postgraduate in Child Health
- NT Working With Children's Check or willingness to obtain
- National Police Check completed in the last 12 months
- Must have full Australian working rights (i.e. Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, a valid Working Visa, or New Zealand Citizenship)
