We're seeking an experienced Production Specialist (Operator/Maintainer) to join our Osborne Cogeneration (Combined Cycle) Power Plant in South Australia. Based at one of ATCO's key power generation sites, you'll be part of a close-knit team responsible for the operation and maintenance of a high-performing generation facility. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity working across a continuous rotating shift roster.
The Role:
Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the boiler, turbine and associated plant systems, including responding to plant upsets and equipment failures. As a key member of the site team, you will also contribute to the ongoing maintenance, administration and overall management of the power station, supporting its safe, reliable and efficient performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain the station’s high-pressure boiler, turbine and associated equipment in accordance with safety and licensing requirements, responding to operational issues as they arise.
- Perform routine, planned and unplanned maintenance activities, including repairs, equipment upkeep and troubleshooting, to maximise station availability, reliability and efficiency.
- Ensure plant dispatch complies with contractual obligations, Australian Energy Market (AEM) rules and Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) instructions.
- Adhere to the station’s Work Management System, including the preparation of work permits, risk assessments and the management of isolations.
- Develop,
review and implement standard operating and maintenance procedures to support safe and efficient plant operations.
- Act as the permit holder for on-site work activities, including coordinating and overseeing contractors and service providers when required.
- Monitor and manage spare parts and consumables inventories, maintaining accurate records within the station’s Maintenance Management System.
- Participate in, and occasionally lead, station projects of varying size and complexity, while undertaking general housekeeping and administrative duties to maintain a safe, clean and effective work environment.
About You:
- A trade or technical qualification in a relevant discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in power station operations or a similar heavy industrial environment.
- Boiler and Turbine Operation High-Risk Licences are desirable.
- A flexible, results-oriented and self-motivated approach, with the ability to adapt to a dynamic, multi-skilled environment.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
