Who We Are

SABO is an Australian fashion brand, proudly owned and led by women. Known for its feminine, summery vacation styles and unique prints, SABO has established itself globally with a strong social media presence. We design coveted women’s clothing and accessories that inspire confidence. As our brand grows, we’re seeking a skilled and motivated Production Coordinator.

Job Summary

We’re looking for a talented and commercially minded Artist & Print Designer to join our design team and help bring the SABO creative vision to life.

Working closely with the Head Designer, you’ll be responsible for researching, developing and executing print, graphic and illustration artwork across collections. You’ll take the Head Designer’s vision and translate it into considered, trend-led and commercially relevant artwork that feels distinctly SABO.

This is an exciting chance for a designer with 3 years’ experience who is confident working across textile design, graphic design and illustration, has a strong eye for colour and trend, and enjoys using artwork to create visual stories and emotional connections with the customer.

What You Will Be Doing

- Work closely with the Head Designer to interpret and bring the creative vision to life through print, graphic and illustration design.

- Research global and local trends across fashion, culture, art, colour, graphics, textiles, illustration and print techniques.

- Develop trend, concept and visual storyboards that support seasonal design direction and inspire new print, graphic and illustration stories.

- Design and develop original textile, graphic and illustration artwork across multiple product categories.

- Create artwork for storytelling purposes, developing illustrations, motifs and visual narratives that communicate a concept, collection or brand story.

- Work across all-over prints, placement prints, engineered prints, stripes, checks, motifs, graphics and illustrative artwork.

- Translate creative concepts into commercially relevant artwork that reflects the SABO handwriting.

- Develop artwork from initial concept through to final, production-ready files.

- Create multiple colour, scale and artwork options where required to support the design process.

- Apply strong knowledge of repeat construction, scale, colour separation and print techniques.

- Prepare accurate production artwork,

contact sheets and files for supplier and factory handover.

- Work with the Head Designer to review strike-offs, samples and artwork revisions.

- Identify and resolve technical artwork issues early to minimise production risk.

- Maintain a strong awareness of copyright, intellectual property and artwork compliance.

- Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

- Contribute ideas and creative thinking to the Head Designer and continually look for opportunities to elevate the brand’s print, graphic and illustration direction.

- Help maintain and grow a distinctive and recognisable visual language through print, illustration and storytelling.

What We're Looking For

- 3 years’ experience in print, textile, graphic, illustration or fashion design, ideally within a fashion or apparel environment.

- A qualification in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Graphic Design, Illustration or a related discipline.

- Strong creative and technical print, graphic and illustration skills, with a portfolio demonstrating a variety of commercial textile, graphic and illustrative artwork.

- Strong understanding of textile print techniques, including digital and screen printing.

- Confident knowledge of repeat construction, placement artwork, scale, colour and production requirements.

- Strong illustration skills and the ability to develop original artwork and visual concepts for storytelling.

- Advanced skills across the Adobe Creative Suite.

- A strong eye for colour, composition, typography, illustration and detail.

- An understanding of current and emerging fashion, print, art, illustration and graphic trends.

- The ability to take creative direction and translate a broader vision into strong, considered artwork.

- Commercial awareness and an understanding of what makes artwork relevant to the customer and product.

- The ability to create artwork that balances creative expression with commercial appeal.

- Strong organisational and time-management skills,

with the ability to manage multiple briefs and deadlines.

- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to collaborate with Designers, Buying and Product Development.

- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work autonomously while knowing when to seek direction.

- Experience working in a fast-paced fashion or retail environment.

The Opportunity

You’ll play an important role within the design team, working alongside the Head Designer to shape and execute the print, graphic and illustration language of SABO.

You’ll have the opportunity to contribute creatively, develop your own ideas and create artwork that moves from initial concept and visual story through to finished product.

We’re looking for someone who is creative, commercially minded, trend aware and technically strong — an artist and designer who can take a vision and turn it into beautiful, relevant and production-ready prints, graphics and illustrations that connect with the customer.

The role will suit someone who is passionate about art, fashion, illustration and visual storytelling, and who wants to help build a distinctive creative world through artwork.

Availability

- You have a right to work 38 hours per week in Australia with no sponsorship requirements.

- We are looking for someone who can perform the bulk of the full time hours between 7.00 am and 5.00 pm Monday to Friday in the office.

Why Join Us?

At SABO we are more than just a brand, we are a high performing and connected Team that values care, connection, and our people.
