Details: Want to play a key role in delivering sustainable outcomes for the city's future transport network? As the Assistant Director - Environment and Sustainability, you will lead sustainability initiatives across major infrastructure projects, supporting the delivery of Canberra Light Rail and helping embed best-practice environmental outcomes into project planning, design and delivery.
Reporting to the Environment and Planning Lead, you will lead the sustainability workstream and provide support across environmental and planning approvals, sustainable design and environmental management activities. The role requires robust stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams, technical advisors, government agencies and industry partners.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience delivering infrastructure sustainability accreditation programs, particularly ISC Infrastructure Sustainability Ratings or equivalent.
- Knowledge of resilience and climate change adaptation methodologies.
- A strong understanding of sustainable infrastructure delivery and whole-of-life asset considerations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a dynamic project environment.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
Desirable Qualifications
- Accreditation with a recognised professional body in sustainability, engineering, environment, science or project management.
- Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional (ISAP) certification.
- Experience applying sustainability frameworks and standards within major infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of risk management principles and methodologies.
Note: This is a temporary position available from 12 October 2026 to 9 December 2026 with the possibility of permanency.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
