Boilermaker / Fabricator – Custom Machinery & Engineering

AE Gibson & Sons is a fifth-generation Australian family-owned engineering business based in Kendall on the NSW Mid North Coast. For more than 100 years, we have designed, manufactured, installed and maintained industrial machinery and equipment for customers across Australia and New Zealand.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects, we are looking for an experienced Boilermaker / Fabricator to join our workshop team.

About the Role

This is a hands-on and varied position working on the manufacture of custom industrial machinery, conveyors, material handling equipment and structural components. Unlike repetitive production fabrication, our workshop delivers a diverse range of engineered projects, giving you the opportunity to work from drawings through fabrication, assembly and, where required, installation onsite.

Your responsibilities will include

- Fabrication and welding of custom machinery, equipment and structural components
- Measuring, marking out, cutting, fitting and assembling components
- Reading and interpreting engineering and fabrication drawings
- MIG/TIG welding, grinding and finishing
- Working primarily with carbon steel, with stainless steel and other materials as required
- Machinery and equipment assembly
- Working closely with fitters, machinists, engineers and electricians
- Identifying and communicating fabrication or drawing issues
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship, safety and workshop housekeeping
- Assisting with site installation, shutdown and maintenance work when required

About You

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their trade and enjoys working on varied engineering projects. Ideally, you will have:
- Trade qualification as a Boilermaker, Fabricator or equivalent
- Proven fabrication and welding experience
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good measuring, marking out, fitting and fabrication skills
- MIG/TIG welding experience
- A strong focus on quality and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A reliable, practical and safety-focused approach to work

Experience with industrial machinery, conveyors, structural fabrication or heavy engineering would be highly regarded. Forklift, EWP, dogging/rigging and other relevant High Risk Work licences are advantageous but not essential.

What We Offer

- Full-time, stable employment with an established Australian engineering business
- Competitive hourly rate based on skills and experience

- Regular overtime opportunities
- Variety – work on custom machinery rather than repetitive production
- Opportunities to participate in site installation and project work
- Work alongside experienced tradespeople, engineers, machinists and electricians
- Training and opportunities to broaden your trade skills
- Long-term career opportunities within a growing engineering business
- Great Mid North Coast lifestyle, close to Port Macquarie
