The opportunity
We are looking for a Part Time Role (0.71 FTE). Please note that this is a Female Only Role, due to specific care requirements. Bright Futures is Outcare’s residential program for young people. As a Youth Residential Worker, you will provide practical day-to-day support and help create a safe, structured and supportive home environment.
You will build trusted relationships, support routines and independent living skills, and encourage young people to engage in education, training and community activities. This is meaningful, hands-on work where consistency, sound judgement and professional boundaries matter.
What you will do
- Provide daily support to young people in residential environments.
- Help young people build independent living skills, confidence and positive routines.
- Encourage engagement in education, training, personal development and community activities.
- Build respectful relationships and support young people to identify their strengths and goals.
- Maintain a safe, structured and supportive living environment, including household routines such as cooking and cleaning.
- Monitor wellbeing, respond appropriately to risks and follow safeguarding, incident reporting and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, case notes and service documentation.
About you
You are calm, dependable and able to connect with young people while maintaining clear professional boundaries. You understand that progress takes time and bring patience, consistency and sound judgement to complex situations.
- Certificate IV in Community Services or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting young people with complex needs.
- An understanding of trauma-transformative and person-centred practice.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to manage challenging behaviours and complex situations.
- The ability to work collaboratively, accept feedback and contribute positively to a team.
Experience in residential youth services, youth justice, child protection or community services will be highly regarded.

Employment requirements A current driver’s licence and National Police Clearance are required. You must be able to obtain and maintain a Working with Children Check and, if required, an NDIS Worker Screening Check. You will also need a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to obtain one, and be available to work rostered hours, including evenings, weekends or shifts where required. Applicants must hold Australian citizenship, permanent residency or a valid visa permitting employment in Australia.
