Our client is a superannuation fund focused on delivering strong outcomes for its members.
They are seeking a Business Analysis Practice Manager to join them in a newly created role. This is an impactful opportunity where you'll help build a strong BA practice, lead an experienced team and shape how business analysis supports successful project delivery.
About the role
As Business Analysis Practice Manager, you’ll own the frameworks, standards and ways of working that support high-quality business analysis across the organisation’s project and change portfolio.
You’ll lead a team of five experienced Business Analysts, with potential to grow the team further. Your focus will be on helping them succeed: providing coaching, strengthening stakeholder engagement, reviewing analysis deliverables and creating consistency across projects.
There’s an existing BA framework to build on and an established project delivery framework to work within. Your opportunity is to turn those foundations into a practice that works well day to day, with clear expectations, useful guidance and meaningful quality assurance. You’ll also stay close to delivery, undertaking business analysis on strategic, regulatory or complex initiatives as priorities and capacity allow.
The anticipated balance is approximately 60% practice and people leadership, and 40% hands-on delivery, evolving with the needs of the portfolio.
What you’ll do
- Own and evolve the BA framework, standards, templates and tools, ensuring they support the organisation’s project delivery approach.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of 5 experienced BAs, building confidence, capability and accountability.
- Embed quality assurance through regular reviews, constructive feedback and explicit expectations for analysis deliverables.
- Plan and allocate BA resources across the portfolio, balancing delivery priorities, workloads and development opportunities.
- Help BAs strengthen their stakeholder relationships and contribute confidently alongside Project Managers and business leaders.
- Identify capability gaps, quality concerns and delivery risks, taking ownership of solutions and escalating where needed.
- Undertake hands-on analysis when required, bringing structure to complex problems and supporting informed decisions.
- Continuously improve the practice, using feedback and delivery outcomes to understand what’s working and where to adapt.
About you You’ve led a Business Analysis practice and understand how to connect people development, governance and delivery. You can show how your leadership has improved both the quality of analysis and the effectiveness of a team.
You’ll bring
- Experience owning and improving BA frameworks, standards and quality assurance processes.
- Proven people management experience, including coaching, development and performance management.
- Strong business analysis delivery experience across a range of business, technology and regulatory initiatives.
- The credibility to review complex work, provide constructive challenge and help experienced practitioners develop.
- Solid stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across a portfolio.
- Sound judgement and a practical approach to applying standards in a regulated setting.
- The initiative to work independently, anticipate issues and bring considered solutions.
Why this opportunity? You’ll have the scope to shape how the BA practice operates, supported by a Head of PMO who values the contribution business analysts make to successful delivery.
You’ll join an experienced team, with room to build on their strengths and establish a more consistent, confident approach across the portfolio. You’ll also retain a connection to hands-on analysis, bringing your own delivery experience into the way you lead.
If you enjoy developing people, improving practice and solving complex business problems, we’d love to hear from you.
