About Us
Belford Oaks Community Children's Centre is a not-for-profit early childhood service in leafy Kew. With over 36 years of history and a proud Exceeding rating in all 7 areas of the National Quality Standard, we offer an integrated long day care program for children aged 6 months to school age, including funded 3-year-old and 4-year-old kindergarten. We value connection, collaboration, and the wellbeing of our team, children and families. Our operating hours are 7:30am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. We are hiring for 3 casual positions:
- 2 x Casual Early Childhood Educators: floating across all rooms, with a range of shifts between 7:30am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday
- 1 x Casual Centre Cook: Mondays and Fridays, with flexibility to work additional days as required. Shifts run from around 6:30am to 1:30pm.
Casual Early Childhood Educators
In this role you will:
- Build strong, respectful relationships with children and families
- Support children's wellbeing, independence and participation
- Work alongside each room team to deliver a rich, child-led program
- Adapt confidently to different age groups and room routines
- Effectively supervise children
- Contribute to a collaborative, professional team culture
- Participate in monthly staff meetings (paid)
About you:
- An ACECQA-approved Certificate III or Diploma qualification
- Knowledge of the NQF, Education and Care Services National Regulations, and best practice in early childhood education
- The ability to build warm, respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, Anaphylaxis and Child Protection certificates
Casual Centre Cook
In this role you will:
- Plan and prepare healthy, nutritious meals and snacks for children across all age groups
- Ensure all meals meet dietary, allergy and cultural requirements
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness
- Manage kitchen operations, including stock ordering, food storage and rotation
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and centre policies
- Keep accurate records, including temperature logs and cleaning schedules
- Create a warm, positive mealtime experience for children
- Work collaboratively with the centre team and families
About you:
- Previous experience as a cook (childcare or a similar setting highly regarded)
- Knowledge of nutrition requirements for young children
- Understanding of food safety standards and safe food handling practices
- The ability to manage a kitchen independently and stay organised
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- A current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)

pay between Level 3 Qualified Educator and Level 5 Advanced Educator (Children's Services Award 2010), depending on experience and qualification
- Cook: pay under the Children's Services Award 2010. Cooks who hold an approved early childhood qualification will be paid as a Children's Services Employee, in line with their qualification.
