Moreton Bay College is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualified teacher to teach Chemistry and Food & Nutrition, including classes in Years 11 and 12.
This position would suit an experienced teacher, an early career teacher or a graduate commencing their teaching career in 2027. The successful candidate will have appropriate curriculum knowledge in both subject areas and a commitment to supporting students through the academic and practical requirements of senior secondary study.
ABOUT THE ROLE The primary focus of this position is the delivery of Chemistry and Food & Nutrition, including QCAA senior subjects in Years 11 and 12.
The successful candidate will
- Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and appropriately challenging learning experiences in Chemistry and Food & Nutrition
- Teach Chemistry and Food & Nutrition in Years 11 and 12
- Develop students' scientific, analytical, practical and evaluative skills
- Prepare students effectively for relevant QCAA internal and external assessment requirements
- Use assessment evidence and student achievement data to inform teaching, feedback and intervention
- Contribute to curriculum planning, assessment development and moderation
- Support relevant QCAA processes, including Endorsement and Confirmation
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support consistency in curriculum delivery,
assessment and student achievement
- Maintain safe and effective practices in laboratory, practical and food preparation environments
- Differentiate learning to support students across a range of abilities and educational needs
- Build positive relationships with students, colleagues and families through MBC's Academic Care approach
- Contribute positively to the broader life and values of the College
ABOUT YOU You will be a knowledgeable and enthusiastic educator who can engage students in the study of Chemistry and Food & Nutrition.
You will demonstrate
- Relevant tertiary teaching qualifications
- Current Queensland College of Teachers registration, or eligibility to obtain registration before commencing employment
- Appropriate tertiary study, curriculum knowledge or teaching preparation relevant to Chemistry and Food & Nutrition
- The capacity to teach Chemistry and Food & Nutrition in Years 11 and 12
- Knowledge of, or the capacity to develop knowledge of, current QCAA senior syllabuses and assessment requirements
- An understanding of contemporary, evidence-informed and inclusive teaching practice
- The capacity to plan and manage practical learning experiences safely and effectively
- Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to reflective practice and continued professional learning
- Enthusiasm for girls' education and for supporting young women pursuing pathways in science, health, nutrition and related fields
- A willingness to support the Christian ethos and values of Moreton Bay College
Previous experience teaching senior Chemistry or Food & Nutrition, and experience with QCAA assessment and moderation processes, would be advantageous but is not essential.
