Your new company
Our client is delivering a major infrastructure project within the energy sector. Due to ongoing project delivery requirements, they are seeking an experienced Contract Administrator to join their commercial team in a newly created position.
Your new role
As Contract Administrator, you will be responsible for the commercial administration, governance and ongoing management of a major works package. Working closely with the Package Manager, Commercial Manager and broader project delivery team, you will play a key role in contract management, supplier performance, commercial governance, cost control and risk management throughout the contract lifecycle. This role offers the opportunity to work across complex, high-value contracts in a collaborative project environment, supporting the successful delivery of a major infrastructure program.
Your responsibilities will include
- Administer contracts in accordance with contractual obligations, governance requirements and commercial policies
- Manage contractual correspondence, notices, variations, claims and change requests throughout the contract lifecycle
- Monitor contractor performance, compliance, deliverables and supplier relationships to support successful commercial outcomes
- Administer Target Outturn Cost mechanisms, including open-book cost reviews, target cost movements and pain-share/gain-share arrangements
- Review contractor cost submissions, payment claims, forecasts and supporting documentation to validate contractual entitlement and commercial outcomes
- Monitor budgets, commitments, accruals and cost forecasts, providing commercial assessments and recommendations to support decision-making
- Support commercial negotiations, contractor engagements and the resolution of contractual and commercial matters
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities, contributing to mitigation strategies and value-for-money outcomes
- Build effective relationships across procurement, commercial, project delivery and contractor teams while supporting reporting, governance and contract performance activities
What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will bring experience in contract administration, contract management, procurement or commercial roles within infrastructure, energy, construction, industrial or EPC environments. You will have strong commercial acumen, experience managing complex contracts and supplier relationships, and the ability to assess claims, variations, cost impacts and commercial risk. Exposure to Target Outturn Cost or similar collaborative contracting models will be highly regarded, along with knowledge of EPC, design and construct or alliance contracts. Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Procurement, Law, Engineering or a related discipline are preferred. The successful candidate will be a commercially minded and collaborative professional with strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills, capable of managing competing priorities within a fast-paced project environment.
