Licensed Electrician

$55–$65 per hour + super | $2,000 sign-on bonus | RDOs | Company vehicle | Sydney Civil Fire is looking for a licensed electrician to join our electrical team servicing residential and commercial strata buildings across Sydney.

We maintain fire and life-safety systems across more than 1,500 buildings, providing stable, recurring work with jobs scheduled in advance.

You do not need previous fire industry experience. If you are a licensed electrician with a good approach to customers and quality workmanship, we will provide the specialist fire protection training.

What we offer

- $55–$65 per hour + super, depending on experience
- Approx. $109,000–$130,000 per year based on a 38-hour week
- Paid overtime
- $2,000 sign-on bonus, paid after five months
- Monday to Friday, 6:45am–3:15pm
- Rostered days off
- Company vehicle with take-home use, or weekly vehicle allowance
- Start and finish from home for most jobs
- Phone, tools and uniform supplied
- Stable, ongoing work across a large contracted portfolio
- No sales targets, quoting or upselling
- Paid, on-the-job fire protection training

Civil Fire is a family-owned Sydney business employing around 35 people across electrical, plumbing, carpentry and fire safety. We were named Fire Protection Company of the Year in 2022 and 2023, and were finalists in 2024 and 2025.

The role

Your work will primarily involve:

- Installing, repairing and replacing smoke alarms
- Installing and repairing emergency and exit lighting
- Servicing and fault-finding fire detection and alarm systems
- Inspecting and testing systems against applicable Australian Standards




- Identifying defects and recommending repairs
- Completing service reports and job records electronically
- Communicating professionally with building managers, strata representatives and residents

You'll work with an experienced, friendly electrical team who'll show you the ropes. As your experience develops, there will also be opportunities to work across other fire protection systems and build broader compliance knowledge.

About you

You will need:
- A current NSW electrical licence
- A current driver’s licence
- NSW White Card or equivalent
- Good fault-finding and practical problem-solving skills
- Positive communication and presentation
- A reliable and professional approach to working in occupied buildings

Experience in fire protection is an advantage, but not required. Electricians coming from construction, domestic, commercial or maintenance backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including newly licensed electricians.

About Civil Fire

Civil Fire specialises in fire protection maintenance for strata buildings throughout Sydney. Our work is recurring and compliance-driven, which provides a consistent workload throughout the year. You will generally work at a different property each day, sometimes attending several nearby sites in one day.

You will join an established electrical department and work independently or alongside other technicians depending on the job.
