Our Drill & Blast division delivers full production drilling and specialised blasting services across mining and civil projects. Services are designed to achieve high productivity while minimising impact on surrounding environments and active operations.
BWE Drilling - Exploration
Our Exploration division is an established drilling contractor supporting exploration and mining programs with Air Core, Reverse Circulation and Diamond Drilling services. The team works across diverse greenfield and brownfield projects in Australia.
BWE Drilling - Waterwell
Our Waterwell division specialises in water bore drilling and well services, operating across local government and Tier 1 mining clients in Australia. Projects range from mine‑site water supply to deep artesian bore drilling.
Description:
As an Exploration Fitter, you will be responsible for:
- Completing breakdown repairs on drilling rigs, vehicles and associated equipment
- Fault finding and diagnostics across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and air systems
- Attending emergency breakdowns and completing repairs efficiently to minimise downtime
- Providing field service support and technical guidance to operations personnel
- Maintaining and servicing drilling equipment and associated ancillary machinery
- Performing planned and preventative maintenance on company assets
- Ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Completing required risk assessments, pre-task assessments, maintenance documentation and reporting
- Working closely with the Maintenance Manager and operations team to ensure maintenance priorities are achieved
Skills and Experiences: About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Certificate III Mechanical Trade Certificate
- Previous experience working in the drilling industry
- Experience with hydraulic and air systems
- Experience working on T685 Schramm, Atlas Copco Explorac and/or D65 rigs
- First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain
- Working at Heights, or willingness to obtain
Desirable
- Auto Electrical experience
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Previous experience in a field-based maintenance role
- Experience working on exploration drilling rigs and ancillary equipment
