Primary objective

Provide day-to-day supervision and coordination of licensing and registration functions within the Firearms Policy and Recording Unit,

ensuring accurate, timely processing of applications and supporting team performance in a high-volume, compliance-driven environment,

aligned with legislative and organisational requirements.





Key duties and responsibilities

1. Supervise and lead a small operational team to deliver licensing and registration outcomes in line with legislation and policy.
2. Allocate, monitor and prioritise workloads to ensure timely processing of applications and service delivery targets are met.
3. Provide guidance, training and on-the-job support to staff, including quality assurance and review of work.
4. Identify and escalate complex applications, risks or compliance issues to the Registry Manager.
5. Monitor data quality and ensure accuracy and integrity of records across relevant systems.
6. Contribute to process improvements, including identifying inefficiencies and suggesting practical solutions.
7. Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders, customers and external agencies.
8. Support implementation of operational changes, including new systems, procedures or legislative updates.
9. Ensure adherence to confidentiality, probity and information management requirements.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Hold, or be eligible and willing to obtain, a Firearms Employee Licence.
2.



Demonstrated experience supervising or leading a small team in an administrative or operational workplace.
3. Proven high-level organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure, prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines in a

high-volume setting.
1. Demonstrated high-level interpersonal oral and written communication skills, including the ability to support staff and engage with

stakeholders professionally.
1. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy or procedures related to administrative decision-making, or ability to

quickly acquire.
1. Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to data accuracy, quality assurance, and sound IT skills including Microsoft Office and

data systems.
1. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, while maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with

discretion.

Desirable

1. Knowledge of the Firearms Act 1997 (NT) and related legislation.
2. Knowledge of firearm types and categories.
