About the role
This position is responsible for providing high quality mechanical services across the City of Parramatta’s diverse fleet of trucks, Utes, heavy plant and equipment, ensuring assets are maintained to a high standard.
On a daily basis you will:
- Deliver planned and reactive works by assisting the Team Leader to complete programs and schedules to agreed quality, safety, and timeframe standards.
- Maintain and repair Council’s heavy fleet and plant (including street sweepers, compactors, tippers, mowers, tractors, trailers, and small plant) in accordance with industry standards, WHS requirements, and established SOPs.
- Support effective workshop operations by undertaking a wide range of tasks that contribute to the long‑term condition, usability, and management of Council assets and facilities.
- Respond flexibly to changing priorities, including emergency response and supporting other operational teams during wet weather or urgent community needs, while working efficiently and cost‑consciously.
- Maintain accurate records and drive continuous improvement by completing required administrative tasks, using Council systems and technology (e.g. Worx Online/iPad), and contributing feedback to improve procedures, equipment, and work practices.

About you The successful candidate should have demonstrated extensive experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy plants, heavy vehicles and equipment, such as Utes, trucks, mowers, tractors, trailers and a range of other small plants and equipment for at least 3 years.
You will also bring:
- Tradespersons Certificate under Motor Dealers & Repairers Act 2013 issued by NSW Fair Trading
- Current Motor Mechanic Certification
- Hold a current NSW Driver’s Licence (Class C).
- NSW Driver’s Licence (Class MR or HR) (desirable)
- Hold an RMS vehicle inspection certificate, (or to be obtained prior to confirmation of appointment)
