Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT) is seeking a HR Advisor to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term maternity leave contract. We are open to discussing different working arrangements, of up to two days per week, based on the successful candidate’s availability and the needs of the role.

Reporting directly to the Chief HR Officer, you will provide practical advice and operational support to managers and employees across the full employee lifecycle. You will contribute to recruitment, HR systems, policy development, organisational change and a range of people-focused projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a capable HR professional seeking flexibility, variety and generalist experience within a fast-paced operational environment.

The Prospect:

As the HR Advisor, you will be a trusted point of contact for managers and employees, providing clear and considered advice on HR policies, employment conditions, workplace legislation and day-to-day people matters.

You will support the continued improvement of VICT’s HR systems, policies and processes while coordinating key activities such as recruitment, performance reviews, remuneration reviews and workforce reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

- Provide practical HR advice and support to managers and employees.
- Advise on HR policies, legal compliance, contracts, leave and employment conditions.




- Maintain VICT’s HR information system, Employment Hero, and support continuous system improvement.
- Coordinate performance reviews, remuneration reviews and performance-management activities.
- Manage recruitment activities from and advertisement development through to screening, interviews, reference checks, offers and employment contracts.
- Prepare regular HR reporting and workforce insights for management and the Board.
- Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures and supporting documentation.
- Monitor compliance with HR processes, policies and employment requirements.
- Contribute to HR strategy, projects and initiatives aligned with organisational priorities.

About You

You are a proactive and approachable HR professional who can balance employee needs, legislative obligations and operational requirements.

You communicate clearly, exercise sound judgement and are comfortable managing sensitive or complex workplace matters. You enjoy working collaboratively but can also take ownership and operate independently when required.

To be successful, you will bring:

- Approximately three years of HR experience.
- Experience providing HR advice to managers and employees.
- Exposure to recruitment, policy development and HR operations.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure in a agile environment.
- Confidence handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
