Industry Capability Network Northern Territory (ICN)

Darwin

Join a small team working across some of the Northern Territory’s most significant industries and projects.

ICN NT is seeking an Industry Engagement Officer to join our Darwin team.

This is a diverse, hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with people and with data, learning about different businesses and industries, and contributing to projects that support Northern Territory industry participation.

The Industry Engagement Officer works directly with Territory businesses, government, industry stakeholders and major project proponents to understand local capability, identify suitable suppliers and support connections between buyers and the local supply chain.

It is not a role where every day looks the same. You may spend one day meeting with businesses to understand their capabilities and the next researching suppliers for a major project, contributing to a supply chain mapping exercise, responding to a procurement enquiry, attending an industry event or pulling together a project report.

You will work across sectors including Construction, Defence, Mining, Oil & Gas, Renewables and Government, gaining exposure to a broad range of businesses, projects and stakeholders throughout the Northern Territory.

What you will do:

As an Industry Engagement Officer, you will:

- Build and maintain relationships with Northern Territory businesses, industry stakeholders, government and project proponents.
- Meet directly with businesses to understand their operations, experience, capacity and capability.
- Identify and assess local suppliers against project scopes of work and procurement requirements.
- Maintain accurate stakeholder, supplier and engagement information within ICN NT’s CRM and database systems.
- Research the market and work directly with businesses to verify their capability.
- Prepare tailored supplier capability information and reports for government, industry and project stakeholders.
- Contribute to supply chain mapping projects, identifying existing Territory capability, potential gaps and opportunities for greater local participation.
- Assist with government and industry procurement enquiries and supplier identification activities.
- Support businesses to maintain current and accurate capability information within ICN NT systems.
- Participate in industry events, forums, workshops and other engagement activities.
- Contribute practical industry insights, case examples and written content to project reports and deliverables.

- Work collaboratively with colleagues across ICN NT on projects, initiatives and continuous improvement activities.

The role combines industry engagement, research, database management, procurement support, business analysis, project work and stakeholder management, providing considerable variety and the opportunity to develop knowledge across multiple industries. You will play a key role in helping NT businesses connect with current opportunities. You will focus on building relationships with businesses, understanding their capabilities, and introducing them to relevant projects.

What we’re looking for:

There is no single career background that defines the right person for this position.

Because the role is so varied, relevant experience can come from a range of industries, trades and professions. We are interested in people who are comfortable engaging with businesses, interested in understanding how organisations operate and able to apply sound judgement when researching and assessing information.

Ideally, you will bring:

- Experience working with industry, trade or supply chain networks.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to engage with people from different industries and professional backgrounds.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a small, collaborative team.
- Strong organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
- An ability to research, interpret and communicate business information clearly.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and digital business systems.
- Experience using CRM systems is preferred but not essential.
- An interest in learning about businesses, industries, projects and supply chains.
- A practical, adaptable approach and willingness to contribute across different areas when required.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is a genuine team player. ICN NT is a small organisation and our people work closely together, share knowledge and support one another. Why join ICN NT?

We are a small,

friendly and highly engaged team with a genuine interest in the industries and businesses we work with.

Our team brings different professional backgrounds, industry knowledge and experience, and we actively share that knowledge across the organisation. We value people who are approachable, respectful, willing to contribute and comfortable working collaboratively.

You will have the opportunity to:

- Work directly with businesses across the Northern Territory.
- Gain exposure to major projects and procurement activity across multiple industries.
- Develop practical knowledge of Northern Territory supply chains and business capability.
- Work with government, project proponents, industry bodies and businesses ranging from small local enterprises to major organisations.
- Participate in industry events, workshops and regional engagement activities.
- Contribute to commercial projects, capability studies and supply chain mapping activities.
- Develop skills beyond the immediate boundaries of the position as your experience grows.

ICN NT also supports professional development through relevant training, workshops and industry events.
