Base salary up to $140,000 plus super, before bonus, depending on experience.
Our wonderful client , a Global law firm is adding a Lawyer or Associate to its Melbourne general insurance team.
They'll take an experienced lawyer at around two years post admission or look at a more experienced Associate.
The work is defendant side insurance litigation for local insurers and London underwriters: property damage and financial loss claims, building and construction matters under liability, professional indemnity and contract works policies, coverage advice, and multi-defendant claims in VCAT and the County Court.

You'll need:
- Admission in Australia with at least one year's experience as a lawyer
- Insurance litigation, property damage, construction or general litigation experience. Defendant side preferred but not essential at the junior end
- Comfortable using iManage or similar and recording time
- Wanting to run files rather than support them
You'll work directly with a Principal Lawyer who came across from one of Melbourne's leading insurance practices with the London markets group and is Best Lawyers Ones to Watch for insurance.
You'll be given your own files early.
That means drafting pleadings and advices, coverage and indemnity advice to insurers, briefing counsel, court appearances, and dealing with insurers, experts and the other side yourself.
Full training on the insurance side is given, so litigation experience matters more than where you've done it
