Australian International Foods is a food manufacturer based in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, producing chilled and frozen snacks and meals for major retail chains and the foodservice sector.
About the role
We are seeking a trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter to join our on-site maintenance team supporting production operations. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, this role is focused on maintaining plant reliability through effective breakdown response, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement activities. This is a hands-on manufacturing maintenance position suited to someone who enjoys fault-finding, enhancing equipment performance, and working collaboratively with production teams.
Key responsibilities
- Preventive maintenance and servicing of all production equipment across the two AIF sites
- Breakdown diagnosis and fault finding across production lines
- Maintenance of conveyors, packaging equipment and processing machinery
- Pneumatic systems troubleshooting and repair
- Identify root causes of recurring equipment failures
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Liaise with contractors and service technicians and maintenance reports and documentation
- Follow all safety, GMP and food safety standards
- Participate in rotating weekend/on-call support when required
About you
- Trade Qualification – Mechanical Fitter / Maintenance Fitter
- Experience in manufacturing, production or FMCG environments
- Maintenance experience with food manufacturing machinery—particularly GEA Forming, Battering & Crumbing Lines, Rheon Encrusting Machines, and Anko Encrusting Machines
- Solid mechanical fault-finding capability
- Experience working with conveyors, packaging systems, or automated equipment
- CMMS experience (e.g. MaintainX or similar platforms)
- Ability to work independently, especially during breakdown situations
- A strong safety mindset and commitment to safe work practices
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday roster
- Maintenance team currently starts at 6:00am
- Some flexibility may apply as operational improvements are introduced
- Rotating weekend/on-call roster being implemented
