Medical reception… but a little different The Village Medical Practice is not your ordinary GP practice — and this isn't your ordinary medical reception role either.

We are a private, family GP-owned practice that believes in the more traditional style of general practice: getting to know our patients, looking after families over the years, and creating a place where both patients and staff feel they belong.

A big part of what makes us The Village is our team — and our slightly unusual addition of our very own coffee shop, The Bothy, right inside the practice.

So, we're looking for our next Casual Medical Receptionist / Barista.

Yes… Receptionist AND Barista.

One minute you might be booking an appointment, answering a patient enquiry or helping one of our doctors — the next you could be making a flat white for a patient waiting to see their GP.

It's definitely not your standard reception job!

About the position

This is a casual position. Shifts are offered in advance, and as a casual you're free to accept or decline any shift you're offered.

The shifts we most need to fill are:

- Alternate Sundays
- Weekday shifts
- Extra shifts when we are covering annual leave, sick leave and busy periods

So we'd love to hear from people who are generally available on alternate Sundays and during the week — and who enjoy variety, love working with people and are just as comfortable behind a reception desk as behind a coffee machine.

What you'll be doing

Your day may include

- Welcoming patients and visitors to the practice
- Answering telephone enquiries and assisting patients
- Scheduling and managing appointments
- Processing payments using Best Practice and EFTPOS
- Scanning, emailing, filing and managing clinical and administrative documentation
- Liaising with medical specialists, allied health professionals and other healthcare providers
- Assisting with Medicare, WorkCover and general medical administration
- Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality at all times




- Making and serving barista coffee, drinks and light food through The Bothy, following protected food handling practices
- Keeping reception, patient areas and The Bothy welcoming and well presented
- Supporting our doctors, nurses and fellow admin team members
- And, like everyone at The Village, pitching in when something needs doing

Who we're looking for Previous medical reception experience is essential for this role.

You'll also need

- Experience using Best Practice (BP Premier) — ideally 12 months or more
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- A friendly, professional and approachable manner
- Excellent multitasking and organisational skills
- Confidence working in a busy medical practice
- The ability to stay calm when five things seem to happen at once
- Strong attention to detail
- An understanding of the importance of patient confidentiality
- A real team mentality
- A Food Handler certificate, or willingness to complete one before you start

Previous barista experience is a bonus, but not essential — we can teach you the coffee side of Village life. What you'll get
