Member Success Manager
Sydney – Hybrid
Tech Council of Australia The Tech Council of Australia (TCA) is the peak industry body for the Australian tech sector. Our 170+ members span startups, scaleups, Australian global companies and multinationals, making tech Australia's third-largest industry. We work closely with government, business and the wider community to support the ongoing creation, development and adoption of technology across every sector of the economy.
You'll join a high-calibre team of industry leaders, policy experts and community builders who are passionate about strengthening Australia's tech ecosystem and shaping the policies that underpin it, during an exciting time of growth for the TCA.
Mission of the Role
This is a key role in TCA's Membership & Engagement team, responsible for the retention, engagement and growth of our largest membership cohort by volume: seed and Series A startups, scaleups and VC funds. You'll build and run a scalable, programmatic member success model, including but not limited to health scoring, structured renewal cadences and cohort-based engagement, so that every member receives consistent service, clear pathways to engage with the TCA and timely renewal support.
You'll also be responsible for coordinating structured engagement across the TCA membership, including through communities of practice that connect members to each other to share learnings and explore collaboration opportunities.
Working closely with the Director of Membership & Engagement and teams across the TCA, you'll turn member engagement, renewal and churn insights into targeted, repeatable activity that lifts retention and renewal performance across the portfolio, while identifying opportunities to grow revenue..
Key Outcomes You'll Deliver
- Own retention and revenue outcomes for a high-volume portfolio of startup, scaleup and VC fund members, and develop business development strategies that attract new members to the TCA.
- Design and maintain a member health-scoring model that flags disengagement and renewal risk early, and apply it consistently across the portfolio.
- Build and run structured onboarding, milestone check-ins, renewal preparation, post-renewal follow-up and automated,
cohort-based communications, using scalable templates and member journeys.
- Provide consistent, responsive member service within clear service standards, escalating strategic, at-risk or growth opportunities to the Director where individual attention is warranted.
- Establish, grow and manage peer networks and communities of practice that help members connect, participate in TCA activities and get clear value from their membership, supported by self-serve resources and engagement pathways.
- Turn member feedback, engagement signals and renewal patterns into practical initiatives that reduce preventable churn and shape TCA's programs, value proposition and future offerings.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, engagement history and renewal dates, and contribute to weekly pipeline and renewal reviews, renewal forecasting and quarterly proposition reviews.
- Work across the Membership & Engagement team to ensure clean handoffs between portfolios, and with Marketing & Communications and Policy on renewal campaigns, scaled communications and member engagement opportunities.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience in account management, membership, customer success or a comparable relationship function managing a high-volume portfolio.
- A demonstrated ability to design or run scalable, process-driven retention or engagement models, with a systems mindset and a preference for repeatable processes over bespoke solutions.
- Community and program management experience, including building peer networks or communities of practice and delivering structured programs that drive participation and ongoing engagement.
- Comfort using data and health-scoring approaches to prioritise a large portfolio, with a proactive eye for patterns and risk signals.
- Strong CRM discipline and organisational skills,
with the ability to manage high volumes of records, renewal dates and concurrent relationships accurately.
- Sound judgement on where to apply personal attention versus scaled process, and a member-focused approach.
- A collaborative style and clear communication, including experience coordinating with marketing or communications teams on scaled member communications.
- An understanding of the Australian startup, scaleup or venture capital ecosystem is highly regarded.
Why Join the TCA
- Play a central role in supporting the founders, startups and investors driving Australia's tech sector.
- Competitive salary of 150,000–160,000 ex super.
- Opportunity to earn a performance-based bonus of up to 10% of base salary.
