Location: Face-to-face, Various schools in Sydney
Job Type: Part-Time Role if able to fill all the following requirements, otherwise Contracted by term
Salary: $40 - 50 [negotiable] + Super/ hour; 2-hour shifts [must have STEM degree]
This is a face-to-face role, and on-site at primary schools across Sydney. Candidates must be available 3 - 5 PM, weekdays, Monday to Friday, during school term. This is a face-to-face role, and we are looking for candidates that want this position long-term. We work at primary schools around Sydney, so it will be a 2-hour window, after school. Mornings are also available, and this can extend up to 20 hours weekly. Locations are reasonable locations within Sydney
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Maths Tutor to provide small-group tutoring sessions for students ranging from Years K - 6. This is a part-time role ideal for individuals who enjoy teaching and helping students improve their mathematical skills. Our objective is to raise the standard of maths at the foundational level, to provide individual support in a group environment so that students achieve their personal best.
Responsibilities
- Provide engaging and effective math tutoring sessions based on student needs.
- Explain complex concepts in a clear and simple manner.
- Assist students with homework, test preparation, and problem-solving techniques.
- Track student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning workplace.
- Communicate appropriately with various stakeholders in a school community while on-site (school staff, administrative staff, parents and carers, students)
- Able to lead a team of tutors during a lesson
Requirements
- Availability throughout all school term dates for the year 2027 and 2028, no planned travel during this time. Leave available in school holidays
- Solid proficiency and proven success in in mathematics, a degree in Mathematics or related STEM field [such as Computer Science, Engineering, Actuarial etc...]
- Comfortable with all aspects of primary school mathematics, including OC and Selective Preparation - Mathematical Reasoning and Thinking Skills (or willingness to learn)
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience
- Patience, communication skills, and the ability to motivate students.
- Access to own transport/ car to be able to go on-site to various locations across Sydney, currently including Ultimo, Newtown, Stanmore, Marrickville, Balmain, Malabar
- Fluency in English
- Working with Children Check (or willingness to get one prior to the role commencing)
- First Aid Certificate (or willingness to get one prior to the role commencing, or during the role)
- Availability 3 - 5 PM, to be on-site by 3 PM. This is strictly face-to-face
