We are looking for a kind, reliable and experienced carer to support a much-loved NZ-born Arborist who has spent much of his life working outdoors and keeping active.
The aim is to support Tommy and keep him in his home, helping him maintain his independence and quality of life. He has always been of slight build and active, however he is a bit wobbly on the legs now.
The role would suit someone who enjoys building a genuine connection with the person they support, rather than simply providing care. We are looking for a trustworthy person who is happy to chat, accompany him to appointments, assist with ensuring his medication is taken and perfom some light household tasks, providing a friendly face each day.
This is a privately paid position, approximately 2 hours per day, on an every day basis.
About the role
- Assist with showering
- Ensuring he takes his prescribed medication each day
- Light household duties and tidying
- Providing general assistance around the home so he deosn't have any trips or falls
- Driving him to appointments
- Being a friendly and reliable presence and providing a little extra company each day
About you
- Certificate III in Aged Care,
Individual Support (Aging) or a related qualification
- Previous experience working with elderly clients
- A current unrestricted Australian driver's licence
- A reliable, registered and comprehensively insured vehicle suitable for safely transporting a passenger
- A current Police Check
- A current First Aid Certificate and CPR
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A warm, patient and respectful manner
- Reliability and a genuine commitment to providing quality care
- The ability to work independently and build a trusted relationship with our family
This is a private position, not an agency role, and would suit an experienced aged-care worker, support worker or personal carer looking for a small number of regular hours with a lovely client.
Hours: Approximately 2-3 hours per day

Rate: Negotiable depending on qualifications and experience
