About the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF)
The ILF is a national charity working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander remote Communities across Australia. We are Community-led, responding to requests from remote Communities for culturally relevant books, including early learning board books, resources, and programs to support Communities to create and publish their stories in languages of their choice.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, the Philanthropy & Grants Manager will develop and grow ILF's philanthropic income through meaningful relationships with major donors, trusts, foundations and government grant-making bodies. You'll prepare compelling funding proposals, strengthen supporter relationships and ensure effective stewardship and reporting, so that every supporter is connected to the impact of their contribution and to ILF's Community-led work.
You'll also support the account management of selected corporate partners. This helps grow, retain and develop ILF's broader fundraising portfolio.
Key responsibilities of the role
- Develop and implement a philanthropy and major giving strategy aligned with ILF's fundraising strategy
- Manage a portfolio of major donors and philanthropic prospects, and identify opportunities for increased support
- Develop and implement the grants, foundations and government fundraising plan
- Research and identify grant opportunities across trusts, foundations and corporate foundations
- Manage the end-to-end grant process, including prospecting,
application development, submission, reporting and acquittal
- Write high-quality funding applications and proposals that clearly communicate ILF's work, impact and funding requirements
- Build and maintain relationships with grant-makers, government and foundation representatives
- Coordinate donor meetings, briefings, cultivation activities and stewardship opportunities
- Support account management of selected corporate and strategic supporters, including renewals, reporting and impact updates
- Maintain accurate donor and grant records, relationship plans, a grants calendar and income forecasts in the CRM
- Maintain and report on the fundraising pipeline and anticipated revenue, including regular pipeline management reports
- Identify opportunities for multi-year funding and longer-term relationships
About you
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, philanthropy, major giving, grants or relationship management
- Strong experience developing successful funding proposals and grant applications
- Experience managing a fundraising portfolio and working towards income targets
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using CRM systems and maintaining accurate donor and funding records
- A good understanding of the ILF's identity, mission and goals,
and a commitment to our Community-led approach
- An aptitude for a fast-paced environment where you can adjust to changing priorities
- Robust interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Tertiary qualifications in a related field and a current driver's licence
- A current Working with Children Check
Experience in the not-for-profit sector, government grants and funding processes, corporate partnerships, or the Australian philanthropic landscape would be highly regarded.
