Primary objective
Provide administrative and project support to facilitate the development, coordination and review of project, policy and program initiatives of the Strategic Policy and Commissioning (SPC) team within the Department of Children and Families.
Context statement
Strategic Planning and Commissioning supports our agency to provide high level advice, manage and coordinate the development of proposals that advance the Agency’s strategic reform agenda, including designing and implementing major reforms and strategic projects.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Support strategic projects, ensuring alignment to outcomes through evaluation practices and assist with progress reporting as required.
2.
Provide support and advice to the SPC team to facilitate the development of projects that are compliant with processes and
accountabilities.
1. Maintain appropriate administrative and record keeping systems.
2. Assist in the research and preparation of high-level briefs, submissions, reports and Government correspondence.
3. Provide documentation support services such as formatting, editing and distribution as well as supporting the development of
Ministerial and Cabinet documents in accordance with Government processes.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience providing support to project management initiatives and providing program development advice including
managing competing deadlines and working collaboratively with others.
1. Demonstrated sound ability to produce written communication and reporting, interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in
supporting teams in the preparation of Government correspondence.
1. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate within a small team to manage a variety of strategic tasks, and a proven
ability to perform under pressure.
1. Demonstrated ability in the use of computer applications and databases such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook or similar systems or
the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
1. Proven ability to build and maintain effective networks with a range of internal and external stakeholders and interact effectively with
people from diverse cultures.
1. Sound skills in maintaining data with thoroughness, attention to detail and accuracy.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in human services, social sciences, public policy, project management, or a related field.
