The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior or Principal Water Resources Engineer to join a respected Melbourne-based consultancy in a pivotal leadership position. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for the company's water resources capability, leading the delivery of stormwater management strategies, flood modelling, hydraulic assessments and drainage design across a diverse portfolio of land development projects.

This role offers a unique blend of technical leadership, project delivery and mentoring, providing the opportunity to further strengthen and expand the business's internal flood modelling and water resources capability. Key Responsibilities

- Lead the preparation and review of Stormwater Management Strategies.
- Undertake and oversee flood, hydraulic and hydrologic modelling assessments.
- Provide technical leadership across drainage and water resources projects.




- Review and manage detailed drainage design packages.
- Act as a key point of contact for Melbourne Water and other relevant authorities.
- Deliver technical governance, peer reviews and quality assurance across projects.
- Mentor and develop graduate, junior and intermediate engineers.
- Provide specialist water resources advice to multidisciplinary project teams.
- Support client relationship management and project delivery outcomes.
- Contribute to the ongoing growth and enhancement of the business's water resources offering.

Experience & Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 8+ years of experience in water resources, stormwater or drainage engineering within Victoria.
- High Proficiency with industry-standard water resources and drainage software such as TUFLOW, 12d, DRAINS, or similar modelling and design packages
- Strong experience in flood modelling and flood impact assessments.
- Demonstrated capability in hydraulic and hydrologic modelling.
- Proven experience preparing Stormwater Management Strategies.
- Detailed drainage design experience across land development and/or infrastructure projects.
- Sound understanding of Melbourne Water standards, requirements and approval processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects while remaining technically hands-on.
- Strong mentoring, coaching and technical leadership capability.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and client management skills.
